Hi all, I've been experiencing an issue with my Megane RS RB8 MK3 hearing clicking noises in the front when turning at low speeds. I've taken it to two wheel alignment places and they were not able to identify which part was causing it. Since then i've gone through the process of elimination and i've changed out both complete control arms, both types of stabilizer bars, inner and outer tie rods, inner and outer CV's and the sound still persists. In regards to the lower control arm ball joints, I notice that the ball joint is tapered, however the hub doesnt seem to be tapered. Am I maybe missing a part? I can only think that this is moving around due to its taper. I've made sure that everything is tight, even to the point where I stripped the thread of the lower ball joint and have new ones ordered. Any suggestions as to what it might be, I would appreciate your knowledge sharing. I know that its ridiculous that i've basically changed out everything and it still persists, it was done out of pure frustration and other mechanics not being able to diagnose it. I even took it to a roadworthy centre where they put it on the machine that shakes the suspension, to no avail. Its definitely in the front area, more so on the LHS. Thank you. Kind regards
"In regards to the lower control arm ball joints, I notice that the ball joint is tapered, however the hub doesnt seem to be tapered. " The hub section (steel) that bolts onto the swing arm ball joint certainly is tapered on the three I have on hand Or are you looking at the outer steering control arm ball joint where it attaches to the hub assembly - this does have a machined aluminium bush insert.
Regarding the noise, others have previously reported a noise due to worn bottom pivot bearing. MK3 swivel vs ball joint debate | RSMegane.com
