MK3 swivel vs ball joint debate

  1. What's the deal with these then? I'm having trouble locating a definitive answer...

Brand new to me pre facelift MK3 RS / RS250 owner here. Wondering what parts I should be finding on the front suspension. I have a wandering issue under braking and am in the process of tracking down the culprit without throwing parts at it unnecessarily.

Is it supposed to be ball joint upper and lower? Or ball joint upper and swivel joint lower? The upgraded parts on this forum appear to have dust boots (like ball joints) on the lower which makes me think they're not swivel joints. I can't seem to find any DIY videos for replacement anywhere so can't even compare to other cars. TIA

  2. Genuine Renault is ball joint upper and pivot lower
    eg below photo

Individual parts (pivot top and swivel bottom) are available. I believe these are what Renault use to make up genuine hub assembly - but not 100%

Wandering (pulling?)under braking and NOT under heavy acceleration, particularly coming out of a corner?? - seems odd. Maybe not a swivel/ball joint issue.
