  1. It's lucky it's a labour of love, you've spent a fortune on it.

Did you sell your ast coilovers

Yeah the 5100s are sold and the 2 ways are en route and should be fitted next week

  3. When you alter the top of the strut to allow the camber adjustment, did you do it your self. Curious how it's done

It was cut out then a piece of 6mm tube that was turned down was Tig'd in.

In the garage as we speak for most of the stuff bar over heating to be sorted. Going to do full belt service with waterpump as the current pump may be starting to give up. 431ac1596e779649cb5c0e52ec8505d7.jpg 8eb7840a19ffd96cfbc5a35f6880e065.jpg 059be8d52a5ad9c80b7067ec5af27b5a.jpg

  5. I'm a man of many talents but welding isn't one of them. Might just send the car down to cgr motorsport, let them do it, fit the bc coilovers, corner weight and align it. Don't think I'd have any change out of 2k

Tbf the extra metal isn't really needed, a large holesaw will be enough and it what CGR do. I just think it looks a bit tidier with how I had it done

  7. I liked the way you did it. Looks like a finished job. Do you install and setup your own coilovers

All Swivels changed, new wheel bearings, CGR downpipe and fitting on the 5200s along with a few other wee bits to tidy it up.

Also got a chance to properly try my new phones camera, impressed fecebfc79a40be4acc3283faa7f74235.jpg b8c952c0e2d97395866e6fa571b36b8e.jpg 696b2e863a1f31f70dcdf520ebd5d9c8.jpg 28a1fa5318dc78ca2705ff9d8dc82398.jpg a258521c2d131999be1d84b7a4995916.jpg

  10. car looks amazing! top spec and outstanding work on it.
I have a 265 cup for 3.5 years and been doing many track days as stock. now mapped to 300bhp and looking to buy the AST 5100. How can you compare them with the 2 way 5200?
And another question - you went with the 17 inch eventually, does the car feels better on track with them? better handling / steering response? what's the weight difference between the stock and the 1.2 17 inch?

Thanks and keep enjoying with that beast!

I haven't had the 5200 on track yet but the 5100's are very, very good. I was on 8/8 rates but they never felt soft on track or anything. Plus the ride amazingly on the road which is a big bonus.

On 10/10 rates on the 5200's which are a bit too much for the road if im honest, Hopefully be back out on track soon to get a proper comparison.

As for the 17's, I genuinely doesnt make that much of a difference on them. Really dont notice any difference between the 17 or 18's

  12. Lovely car you have there Jamie. I would have liked to stripped mine, but the thought of travelling from Thurso to Spa in a stripped out car?!.

  13. You might as well take the reg plates off it now Jamie mate. This is a full blown track car!!

  14. Earbuds ;-)

  15. so the AST are great for daily driven, can you consider them to be better than stock setup for road use?

  16. -Jamie-

    -Jamie- RSM Moderator

Nah definitely not, Stock cup setup is such a capable setup out the box, I have no doubts a stock setup would leave mine for dust on UK roads. Extremely compliant and well damped for a factory setup.

  21. Looking at that picture of the AD08R, you may want to check that they are mounted the right way round...

Not sure how much difference it will make in the dry, but might severely reduce wet grip.

  22. -Jamie-

    -Jamie- RSM Moderator

They are mounted the correct way round lol

  23. Haha my bad. Just looked odd to me from the picture.

    Still think the ride heights a bit high [emoji23] 9b1fa7a361ba8529c12a5e8c852dc994.jpg 39b6054563b15bd9152d3c7fd6bb9db5.jpg 60ae9be723383dcb6798f84514f4311c.jpg 13b15d0a83778fab51332861fb00f701.jpg 9f5ecc327d89cf9ef07d3d7474f4f08c.jpg d75c6fa6bce24cb51ec9e634bc3811a0.jpg

  31. Car looks sweet. But may I suggest not lowering it any further? The standard car has very little damper stroke to the soft bump stop even at stock ride height. You want a decent amount of free travel. And I would have thought you would end up with quite a lot of geometrically-induced roll because of the effect on the rollcentres, i.e. geometry more than offsetting stiffness-induced lateral resistance to roll. Looks amazing.

  35. Does having wider front tyres add some weight to the steering Jamie?

  36. -Jamie-

    -Jamie- RSM Moderator

A little, Also makes it tramline and follow ruts in the road a lot more. Definently drives nicer on narrower tyres on the road.
As for the track benefits, Im still to be convinced its actually any quicker with the wider rubber, Contact patch is still the same anyway but it does manage heat better and braking performance seems higher

  37. I will be there mate but i have a feeling your stripped out race car wont be much of a comparison to my full interior haha.

  38. I can't tell if you're joking but height is spot on man, maybe even too low if anything!

  39. -Jamie-

    -Jamie- RSM Moderator

It's actually a bit higher on the new ASTs than in my old setup lol. Does feel like it drives better thiugh so gonna leave it as it for now, see how Donny goes then adjust if needed

  40. I think it looks good dude, when they're super low they don't look as good imo.

Should get some cool carbon brackets made up to tie the reservoirs to your cage, that would be cool!
