  1. Need some help advise re the headlights on my 2007 225. 1st car to have xenons so don't know anything about them lol. It would apear that drivers light is to low and not very bright. And passenger light is to far angled into the hedge and again not very bright. Local renault wanted 100 to look at t before doing anything else. Any help will b good about changing the angle myself as the adjuster inside the car is at its highest already.

Get them properly aligned, The adjuster in the car is for changing the level of them depending on how many passengers you have, Not for aligning them...

If you've got an adjuster inside the car, then I'm pretty sure you haven't got xenons.

Xenons are are self levelling, with sensors on front and rear suspension.

  4. As Stu says if you have an adjuster in the car there not factory fit xenons. Do they adjust themselves when you first turn them on? i.e the beam goes up and down before settling?

You may just have a hid kit or someone has retro fitted xenons? First port of call would be looking to see if its a hid kit - which it probably is and the bulbs havent been put in right

  5. There will be level adjust in the top of each lighy, normally a white plastic alan screw

  6. Ah ok guys. Well I looked the other day to see if I could adjust it manually with the Alan key screw type thing and by the looks of it there is only one for the high beam and side lights. I think. Is it worth me taking a pic of the lights? Jjones82 no they just come on and don't level them self. Don't know if it makes a difference but it's a cup version. Don't know if you can tell but I'm new to all this and not much of a mechanic mind. Lol.

  7. Also jjones how do I check if it's a hid kit. Sounds like a need to take a few hours after work and take the light ouout and investigate. What do I look for if it's a hid kit? Etc....

  8. There is only one adjustment screw for each light and its for dipped beam

  9. The adjustment will raise/lower both low and high beam.
Just take a picture of the headligjts and i will tell you if they are oem or retrofit xenons

  10. Ah ok will have a look after work 2morrow and update you all. Thanks guys for your wisdom.

  11. I replied to the other thread where you posted but i got no answer from you

  12. Sorry dude didn't c this one. I will grab a pic 2 morro after work and try and add it for you. Thanks for the help.

  13. 20141211_100255~2.jpg hopefully that's a good enough pic m8.

  14. There not factory xenons, they don't have the dark insert. Most likely a hid kit. Do you have a seperate ballast (a box either cable tied or stuck down somewhere with wires coming/ going to the headlight) inside the engine bay?

  15. that does not help him to get them aligned.
there is a hole under the hood above the bumper in which you can stick an alen key to adjust the neutral position of the headlights.
firs turn the car on, and put the little wheel on position "0"

then find a straight road or some long parking lot which is not bumpy and measure out 85m in front of the car on the road. that is the line you want your lower step of each headlight to hit. adjust with the alen key until you got what I explained.
    after that your headlight adjusted.

  16. Also if u c the light is not strong enough maybe the hid is dying

  17. Ok guys thanks for your help. Wasn't expecting them to be an after market fitted headlight. So if the hid I'd dying how do I replace it. Or is it as simple as buy another kit and fit it.... you lot r very helpful. Thanks.

  18. Yes it is simple but you must not buy some chinese stuff. If you want look at theretrofitsource.com for xb35 bulbs and ballast h7 base. Dont buy cheap stuff. The headlights are genuine renault only the bulb is replaced for HId

  19. Oem is d1s or d1r, easy to change, just buy the bulb, same matching color is hard so better get the pair. Take the plastic cover of the hopper. There is an wire holding the bulb , take it out and just take the bulb out place new one and thats it. If it is aftermarket similar process but be sure what kind of bulb is, u can use same balast. Take the bulb out first

  20. Those are not oem xenon headlights. Projectors on those are smaller in diameter and have always dark and not chrome bazels.

  22. Sorry just reposted the same thing ooopssss. Ok so that's a job 4 2 morro then take a look inside the light and investigate.

  23. the headlights are not aftermarket, it is basically only the bulb.
first aim you lights and afterwards I will help you spend your money wisely and not throwing money on cheap useless stuff.

  24. Your a gem dude. I just had a look and there's no other wires so I guess that rules out a hid kit. I will level the lights 2morrow if I can. There is only one white bolt thing to do the adjusting. I guess that's the right one as it's the only one lol.

  25. yes it is  (the white one)

by the way, why do you think you have hids, it may sound strange asking but is it because of the projector style headlights or are they very bright or something else ?

it may be god if you could remove the arch liner and take a picture from the back of the headlights so I can be 100% sure they are hid or no hid, also you will see if there is any thing connected to them apart from the wiring.

  26. It was another post on here that suggested they were hid. So I was just ruling that one out.

  27. have zour light aimed, than get close to the wall at aprox 5 to 10m and take a shot of the light being projected

  28. Are you sure their xenon? Was it the seller who told you they were? As from the sounds/ looks of it there just normal halogens.
The fact that one of your lights shines off to one side (too far into a hedge I think you said, would have me first looking at the bulbs to make sure there seated propperly before trying to adjust the alignment.

  29. he is not, look at his last post and one post before

  30. But his opening post says it has xenons, which is why I was asking why he thinks they are.

  31. He has answered that question also.

    Here:

  32. That hasn't really answered it though has it?

He stated he has xenon's in his first post, which were established to be not factory, as he has the height adjuster in his car.

It was then suggested that he may have a hid kit or retro fitted xenon's.

He also complained that there not very bright.

So I was simply asking why he thought he has xenon's in the first place, was it sold to him advertised as having xenon's etc?

As everything is pointing toward standard halogen headlights at the moment.

  33. Becaouse he seen a post that states that those are hid somewhere. And he is not sure that they are hid ones.

  34. From the sounds of it there not xenon at all

  35. I will align them l8r and take of b4 and after shot for you and see what the outcome is. And hopefully you will b able to see how bright they r in the picture. Cheers guys.
