Worrying stuff.

  1. This is being discussed on the Audi RS forum at the moment due to a marked increase in thefts of Audi RS4 and RS5 models without keys. Not only is this stuff openly available to buy, but look at the different makes they do stuff for - including Renault. Thought I'd post it back over here.

  2. Have to get within 3 meters of the key to read the original according to that (if I've read it correctly), probably 3 meters in open field too not through walls or anything like that so you'd have to be virtually stood next to someone in the open with a large box and a scanner connected with a flexi cable, might look a bit suspicious

I do wonder what if any security there is on keyless cars beyond the usual alarm systems, a lot of similar access technology uses rolling keys for example.

  3. I recently had my megane broke into. The key was in my coat hung up in my wardrobe. Which was approx 3 meters from the car. But obviously inside my house.

I came out to the car in the morning and the door was just about on the latch. Every storage compartment had Been opened and left open. Luckily nothing of value was left in them. The only thing they stole was my sub in the boot. Again the boot was left on the latch.

I was in total disbelief and shock. I questioned weather I'd actually locked the car. My partner was positive from the start the problem was the distance the key card was from the car(even though it was inside the house). So we did a experiment. I stayed outside, she locked the car went inside shut the front door and placed the key card where it was the night before. I waited a few minutes the put my hand on the door handle. Boom I was in no problem.

So there is a massive design fault if you ask me. Luckily my partners car was infront of mine that night.
I have since fitted a separate current drop sensing alarm and both key cards get kept in a metal tin overnight. Just incase they have the signal grabbing/range extending technology.

  4. Could me in the back of a van parked very close to the car though

  6. Obd port no keys needed at all

its all on youtube easy for thieves but high performance cars and prestige are taken for order,

ill talk all about the mk2 focus rs ,owners have their obd port disabled because of thefts the rs forum is rife with thefts or attempted thefts
look on YouTube BMW 1m gone in a matter of seconds with no keys

  7. There is a big thing about the E9x shape bmw & how they can take one with a blank key & a laptop.

  8. It's not just the the E9x. It's any BMW that has a key fob you put into dash. I work within stolen vehicle recovery before they get exported.

  9. Needless to say I don't leave my m3 about anywhere. I saw a couple of vids on YouTube & it's frightening how quick they drive off with them.

As silly as it sounds, if you put a steering wheel lock on the car it will seriously deter criminals, especially in the keyless entry category.

  12. They can still easily gain access. That's Why I've fitted a extra alarm.
