White R26 Project

  1. So after owning a few french cars a couple of years back and recently having a Audi that was on air I’ve decided I want to go back to french and more so have a little power.

The french collection so far and the much loved A4.

So I decided a couple months back to start hunting for a nice megane R26, and I found the perfect one completely standard liquid yellow decent millage at a very good price but unfortunately the seller let me down the night before I was going to set off on my 10 hour round trip to get it meaning I was now on the hunt for another one bringing me to the one I brought which is this -

Now obviously the car wasn’t as described in the add it was in a right shit state and really needed some tlc so first things first was getting them horrible tacky stickers off the car. Which took me and my mate probably the best part of about 3/4 hours getting all the glue off and polishing the exhaust that looked as if it had never been done.

So the following day I decided to clay bar, polish then wax the meg to see how clean she’d actually come up and I was really surprised tbh.

I had ordered a genuine Renault splitter and managed to fix the clips it sits in and fit that as well as use up the carbon wiper delete I ordered for my Clio 182 with a little messing and heating it up I managed to get it to curve to fit the megs glass.

  2. So after the car was finally clean well cleaner than before anyway I managed to find a plate that I quite liked for a good price so purchased that got some plates made and got that straight on making the car look a lot cleaner

Whilst I was there took it as a good opportunity to fit some led number plate lights so people could actually see my plate [emoji1787]

  3. Couple of weeks went buy when I really didn’t know what was next for the meg so I started addressing little things like replacing all the rusty brackets on the intake pipes and actually putting one on the boost solenoid taking the air filter off and soaking it to clean (thing was disgusting)

    After

Cleaned all the pipes made sure everything was right including the intake pipe onto the turbo which kept popping of on the test drive.

  4. Now that the little clean up bits are done I decided to address the bits that was wrong when I picked the car up which are

Induction kit popping off the turbo that’s done

Window regulator replaced both on my old one so I knew how to do it but knew there no fun at all.

The fan was constantly on no matter cold start or at half temp.

So off I went and brought new thermostat new temp sensor and some coolant thinking this will probably do the trick erm........nope but least it’s all been replaced so after doing a bit of research I found it to be this little shite

    ad4687ab5e2656dce7d06db3a38a8de4.jpg

Nice £40 later for the smallest sensor in the world and 5 mins later the fan was off all sorted. Air con pressure switch!

Then my attention was turned to the much loved window reg that wasn’t working and I was quite lucky instead of replacing the hole regulator like I did twice on my 225 I ordered just the module hoping it would do the job. So foolishly one night before setting off to go to London I though bollox passenger window doesn’t work so said a few chosen swear words and about 2 hours later the window was sorted and it only cost me about £13 winner winner.

  5. Looks good in white. Nice to see it coming back to its former glory, even if it doesn't have stickers.

  6. Original stickers will be coming soon. It’s nice without them but really want the stickers back on.

  7. Also treat meg to some nice new speakers a lot better than the old thin ones some nice new shoes and some much needed forge clips as my pipe kept popping off under boost.

  10. The wheels are team dynamics pro race 1.2 18’s et55 8.5j all round. And the speakers are kickers 5.5inch all round 225w so if I wanted I could run them off a amp to get better and more sound but they work brilliant off the head unit so I won’t bother.
