Which exhaust.

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Browny, Sep 1, 2015.

  1. Need some advice.. im looking into a cat back, done the usual research but my knowledge only goes so far for the time being. Now i had a Scorpion exhaust on my RB182 however this is no 182.

    So, what do you guys think;

    Scorpion: http://www.scorpionexhaust.co.uk/sc...ane-rs250-10-half-system-stainless-2217-p.asp

    Cobra: http://www.cobrasport.com/index.php/cobra-sport-exhaust/renault/megane/cat-back-exhaust.html

    Miltek: http://www.theperformancecentre.co.uk/#!performanceparts/c1m7g

    Remus?: http://www.theperformancecentre.co.uk/#!performanceparts/c1m7g

Or if there's any that i've missed, any help would be appreciated.. a lot of money to throw away on chocolate piping

  2. I am still on standard exhaust but I have never looked past miltek. It's the name in the game when it comes to exhausts for me.

  3. I went for the supersprint. And there's also the akrapovic if you're feeling flush. GT performance also do an exhaust for them which looks really nice.

  4. Although people don't rate K-Tec at all their exhaust seems to be well solid and I think sounds better than the Miltek. The miltek is far too quiet and close to standard for my liking personally. I think the remus is much the same if i remember rightly.

Been toying with buying a system myself and for me its between the KTec and Supersprint with the race box.

  5. This is very true CCowan91.

I'm not a K-Tec fan boy by any means, I always use R-Sport, but I did use K-Tec once for a cam belt on my old mk2 Trophy and they were OK to be fair. If I were in the market for a re-map I probably wouldn't use them, but they were the most helpful of all the people I spoke to and the system was also the best value.

I would have liked an Akrapovic, but just not viable at £1734, as beautiful as they are! In truth, I don't think there is a huge difference in the sound of most of the exhausts out there really (apart from the titanium Akrapovic).

The guys at R-Sport did comment on the quality of the system and in particular how well it fitted. I haven't really driven it much since it was fitted as one of my shocks is buggered, but it certainly makes a bit more noise, pops and bangs plenty! A bit louder in the car than I remember when I went out in a car with one fitted, but I'll comment more when I've spent a bit more time n the car.

  6. What about the Cobra or Scorpion cat-back systems? Value seems really good for them, can you compare them with the others? Im really thinking of de-cat first, and its the Cobra downpipe im looking for, as the price on eBay is really good.

  7. Not heard much about the cobra system but the scorpion sounds nice, although i've been told by my indy specialist they're a pig to fit..

  8. So far i think the cobra sounds the best.. pick one up for 490 with free delivery

K-Tec don't make there own exhausts, forget who makes them now.

  10. Piper.

  11. Does sound pretty good, but like scooby said they all sound fairly similar to be fair. I've not known anyone to go for the Cobra so have no idea on the quality of it.

  12. That indy specialist wouldn't happen to be Rentec would it?

  13. Haha yeah it is mate, why? Was it you that got it fitted lol?

  14. Yes it was lol. Mine was the first RS240 system they had fitted on the Mk2 and I can confirm that it was a pig to fit. It clatters the heat shield, especially over speed bumps and after many, many adjustments they couldn't get it to sit in a position where it wouldn't foul anything. Due to time constraints on my part, I had to tell them just to get the car in a drive able condition. If I'd had more time, I would have left it with them to try and get it sorted. Of course, the Mk3 may be totally different and the Scorpion exhaust designed for the Mk3 may have a better fitment.

  15. Nortech performance in Rotherham s.Yorkshire..

    Plz

  16. Aw Benno, that sucks bigtime. Sorry to hear. Do you still have bother with it? I think I seen a post say it wasn't a straight fit for the 250s either, some modification needed to be done towards the exit pipe or something..

  17. I think I must be the only one who thinks the Megane.... although in reality ALL modern'ish 4 pot turbo engines these days don't produce a sound I'd like to amplify with a louder exhaust. The grumble and splutter the standard ones gives is fine enough though.

Like I say, maybe just me. Love the cars... but not the noise.

p.s I could be getting old?

  18. I dont like the tone of the 4-pots also, but those pops and cracking are fun, its the main reason for me to change or modify the exhaust system. Gains from decat is the thing also.

  19. I fitted a a scorpion cat back to my 250. It wasn't to bad a job. Only issue I had was the centre pipe that came with it was to long so I had to chop it a bit.

  20. Yeah, I'm still having the same issues with it mate. Need someone more local to me to have a look at it, or ideally someone whose successfully fitted one before.

  21. I've actually been in discussions with Mark from Whybee over email today, I bought the rs240 at PFC expo before it was on the net.

I bought the single box 240 with decat. Now where do I start???? The decat never fitted I had to grind the weld back and reweld it to fit up to the turbo! I got in touch and they admitted the problem and sent me a redesigned decat (still sat on me spare bed, it's actually what the heated discussion was about today).

I have finally got the exhaust to fit, it's not quite 100% but it's nearly there.

Secondly I had the mount they supply snap at the Ring 3 weeks ago leaving the back box shaking about like a prick in a top hat!

But even after explaining how forum members had had trouble with fitment and after they even admitted it to me when they sent me another downpipe they still insist the system is a high quality system and fits great!!!!

  22. On the back of this, does anyone have or know of anyone with the Cobra exhaust.. i think thats the one im going to go for, it has the deeper sound of the other ones ive looked at..

  23. Wasn't there one for sale on here? I presume the owner fitted it.

  24. Get a custom one made, then you can have it sound how you like. Or email GT Performance, they quoted me €1340 delivered for their titanium kit

  25. i have new akra fitted by insurance company!selling my rs so how can i advertise the exhaust here?
    sorry new here!
