When do i use glaze?

  1. Glaze?
So my understanding is you would use this after a polish and is used to hide swirls when you do not want to correct them properly. Is this correct? Furthermore can you use a glaze and then put a sealant on top of it, if so how does the glaze effect the sealants durability?
Take auto Finesse, if I'm using a wax I might polish with rejuvenate or tough prep if about to use a sealant but where would the ultra glaze fit in. Does it replace one of those two or get used after either of them?

Can you polish-glaze-sealant-wax on your own car or are you just wasting time/money?

    Cheers

  2. As far as my experience goes I use black hole then apply a sealant, i hear black hole itself doesn't last particularly long but layering a sealant or wax after will lock it in and add to the gloss.

  3. So if you're a purist the process goes :
Clean, decontaminate, machine polish, IPA wipe down, glaze, sealant or wax. If you get the prior steps right then you don't need two LSPs.
By hand, same process as above but maybe hand polish instead of machine.

As a quick alternative with worse results , go from decontaminate to a filler heavy product like super resin polish to a LSP.
Black hole , white diamond, prima amigo are filler heavy glazes with no cleaning properties per se. They hide imperfections and add depth to the finish

  4. So a glaze doesn't affect sealant bond or durability?

  5. Black hole is an awesome product for fast and easy. Very filler heavy.
Have you used a glaze before? I have a few sample bottles kicking around if you want to try on a few panels?

  6. Depends on the product...

Some are fussy, some state they work well on glazes - some say you need an IPA wipedown then them (e.g. Zaino) for optimum durability ...

  7. Nope never used one, normally just polish by had them use a sealant.

  8. Nope never used one, normally just polish by had them use a sealant. (shocking spelling)

Nope never used one, normally just polish by hand then use a sealant.

  9. I recently used Auto Finesse Ultra Glaze on a mates red Skoda, it was covered in swirls and he didn't want to machine polish it.

The glaze covered up really, really well and left a really nice glossy finish, I just topped it with a wax after, I was surprised how good it looked to be honest.

  10. I use autobrite cherry glaze then top with sealer or wax depending what time I have. Works really well with the white.
