250 Wheel upgrade options

  1. hello all, hope y’all keeping well in these weird times.
I have the standard cup 18inch wheels and I’m considering a wheel upgrade, ideally to a slightly wider width, and certainly to something lighter.

I don’t have a clue where to start though, I’ve heard team dynamics are decent... however there’s surely so many more options. Is there a site I can go on to compare weights and designs? Or do you guys have any good experience with upgrades you can share?
Ideally would be looking at running 245 or 255 fronts.

    Thanks

here aren't that many options out there, Team Dynamics are great, i have a set 8.5j with 55 offset this is about as close as you can get to the factory offset ET68, they aren't the lightest but not that bad, but they are very rugged, so running curbs isn't an issue :laughing:

I run 255 35 18 semi slicks as they are cheaper and easier to get than 245's.

OZ do some wider and with a decent offset but last time i looked you are looking at over £2k a set:openmouth:

Might be worth going through Jamie's threads as he's bought and sold just about everything that's able to fit a Megane :laughing:

  3. Sorry to chip in on this thread

Ian - i’m running tibors on mine as daily’s and a spare set of cup 18” wheels for track

can you run the cup wheels on tyres as wide as your set up front say 255 35 18?

what do you run tyre size wise on the rear out of interest?

    Cheers

The wheels on the Meganes are 8.25j you can run either 225 or 235's at a push 245.

I run 235 40 18 on standard Megane wheels, i think at a push 245 40 18 will be the max really and there way more expensive in general so i would go for the 235's.

I run 8.5j all round with semi slicks 255 35 18, i run 19's on mine 235 35 19 asymmetric 5's for driving on the road and wet tracks, that way i have both bases covered, 19's on the car 18's in the boot.

i run the same size tyres front and rear so they can be swapped if need be.

  5. @ianplymouth sounds good mate, thanks for the info. I'm thinking of doing pretty much exactly that. 255s look to be what all the quicker 'ring meganes wear too.

I'll have a look at Jamie's like you say and I'll have a browse around.
