225 Wheel Bearing Removal

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Trophyboy, Oct 3, 2017.

  1. First time I've removed a megane front wheel bearing but does this part come out of the hub as well??
Don't want to damage anything before beating it out?

It's like an outer carrier but want to make sure first as i don't have a new bearing to check.

  5. Thanks fellas, just needed to double check first.
Are they a press out job from the back?

  6. Yeah, although you could probably tap it out. I've never tried.

  7. Managed to get them out in the end.
What I did was weld a bead all the way round the inner part of the bearing carrier and the heat generated from the weld made them just tap out using a chisel on the weld :grinning:

  8. When you refit new bearings, don't forgot they go in a certain way.

One side has the magnetic pickup for the abs sensor, this faces inwards.

  9. Is there an obvious way to tell which way they go? I am about to do this job. Cheers.

yes it is, its the side with the protective cover when you open the box.

Or place something metal against the seal and you will feel it stick.
