Golf R32? I don't really understand that excitement about that car. Looks boring, not particularly quick and reliable. Sounds good, and build quality is better then Megane, but apart of it Meg is much more interesting car.
Ridiculously high running costs. £500+ a year road tax, around 20 mpg, they're not particularly quick either (Megane is quicker). Best thing about them is their noise.
I may put the .26 R up for sale in a few months... But I feel I have not used it enough, bought it at 3,980 miles and its now on 6,014 miles.. (just over 2,000 miles in total) Plus, I am sure a collector would like mine being its so low miles? (in having service and MOT at the moment) Next - Cayman 2.7 (5 speed) Exige (but know nothing about them!! + I'm 6'3 would I fit in one?) 911 (997) but must have a Hartech engine M3 of sort? Any other ideas?
I'd get an e92 M3 if I was in your position, wouldn't have to put much towards one either after selling your r with that mileage
Not sure what I'd replace mine with. I quite fancy a Boxster S or Elise S, but the servicing costs put me off. The Megane is great in that regard as servicing is very sensible (and I'd rather spend money on the 7 instead). I was tempted with a BRZ, but I think I'd get frustrated with having to bounce it off the limiter to get it to go (I get that's the point of it, but I prefer the grunt of a turbocharged engine in a road car). I was hoping for a BRZ STI but it looks like that's unlikely. The new MX5 could be a good one based off the rumours of the weight being closer to the MKII models. It'll be fairly cheap to buy and to service.
Originally I said I would replace with the new type r but now I think I would go with Mk 2 Focus RS- not just the looks and performance but the reliability and the way it holds its value so well.
