Semi slick for track Pilot super sports for road and wet track, PSS are mega , try openeo for them I and most others fit 225/40/18 instead of 235s
I phoned Demon Tweeks and the guy there said that 225's would really throw the gearing out and recommended against that size, I was looking at a set of Nankang Ar-1. Ended up going for the Federal 595 RS-R from Oponeo at £91 delivered each - arriving Tuesday. I've driven my mates R26 that was fitted with them and they were impressive - half the price of the Toyo 888's. Also, just had 4 x Continental Sport Contact 5 XL 235 x 40 x 18 95Y fitted to my road wheels today.
The new eagle f1 asy 4's, can't complain so far work well for daily driving, was going to go pss but need more than 8k miles a tyre!!!
I don't so how the width would throw out the gearing I would understand the profile would ad u could be making the circumference bigger or smaller so I wouldn't trust daemon tweaks lol
I've always used 225/40/18 when car was on road.. Always used AD08r's but they don't last long normally and not great with standing water but really good come nice Tarmac or track.. and I know they will take a 240 or 250 slick aswell, needed spacers to stop them rubbing the adjuster nut at full lock with BC coilovers though
Fitted four federal RSR's today. I had a 20% discount on eBay so made these tyres very cheap and the reviews are pretty good.
I keep hearing good things about the federal rsr the car I've got has 2 rear hankook v12 and are nearly new so don't know weather to just get two more for the front
From my understanding the 40 isn't static it's a percentage, so the change in width (narrower) means that a 40 ratio on 225 makes the tyre circumference smaller. Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
I have had ps2..still a good tyre..excellent in the dry. goodyear asy2..felt horrible on the front..no turn in conti 5p....excellent all round tyre..didn't last 5000 miles though! and now PSS..best all round tyre I have even had...you really cant go wrong with Michelins high end sports tyres..
What are the PSS like compared to the Conti's in the wet / cold? 5k isn't good  Sent from my E6653 using Tapatalk
i ran PSS at a damp Silverstone, nowhere near as good as rainsport 3 in those conditions, but good fun, they were really good once it dried out, was a cold day. Really good all-round tyre for me.
There are more dry days than wet in the UK, so wnen running one set of tyres, one that just favours wet performance would be a poor choice.
PSS have several years development on the 5p...I think its superior all round..has great turn in on 225/40/18 look how many manufacturer's use PSS as standard equipment..RS focus being one of them.
Tyreleader are always competitive on price. Buy the "best" tyres you can afford. I use quotations because tyre performance is the most subjective part of the way a car drives closely followed by brakes. Decide what kind of tyre you want, then what tyre of that kind. Just fitted 4 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo 2 .. so far, so good. Cabin road noise seems to be reduced, as can hear the exhaust a ton more. Seems to stick to the MK roundabouts like glue ... but difficult to compare as my last 4 (Bridgestone Potenza's) were nigh on bald, so was like ice before.
I've just got some PS4's will wait and see what they are like compared to the vredsteins! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
