Hi. Im looking for an rs250 at the moment. I want a cup bit seems that most in my price range have the awful cloth seats, id rather buy the right car than be drawn in by the recaros but what options so i have to replace them with? Ta
Plenty of options. The Recaro Sportster CS are obviously what you could get as a factory option. Then, if you fancy full bucket seats (which will be a pain in daily use), there are a million options really.
Thanks Ultralight, ate the factory recaros easy enough to come by? If i went aftermarket is it new bases etc? Ta
The original Renault one are always in demand. They're available on the odd occasion. Check the Marketplace here and also eBay. Aftermarket buckets (like a few people including myself run) need bases (£80 each from Ktec, who I think are the only supplier of something plug and play?) and then of course side mounts and seats.
Have you sat in the normal seats yet? If not then I think you will be surprised, they are very supportive! I had the Recaros in an old Clio 200 and yes they were great but honestly other than looks I wouldn't say there was a lot of difference between the two.
In all fairness space cadet i havent and its a good shout and maybe i wont mind them but they just look awful! Haha
Each to their own, but honestly I don’t mind the looks at all and I’m very OCD anally choosey. I would’ve loved the car to have come with the Recaros, because of the looks and the harness holes (so as to fit a harness, not just for looks) but it wasn’t a deal-breaker and my advice would be not to let it be one for you. Don’t forget these were a very expensive option therefore for your £x budget you will theoretically get a better standard 2nd hand car without them rather than one with them, because part of the price will be recovering some of the cost of the seats. I’d rather that money went on condition/age/mileage etc.
Agreed what has been said: Rather pick the right car without Recaros than a bad one with. If it's just for the looks, I wouldn't worry too much. For the road they're perfectly fine. For other work it depends on build and size quite a bit.
Ye i definately agree with that, nail hit! Thats kinda why i was seeing whats available aftermarket but il see what car i end up with. The car MUST be a cup so that will limit me further!
I'd agree with this, I had the slim recaros in my Clio and they are cool however I went for the full leather in my 265, heated and electric. On track I use a cg lock and was very happy with them holding me in place, and I'm quite small! I believe the standard leather seats are still made by recaro too
I haven't taken the Megane on track yet but have confidence in the seats already that they will be more than supportive. The downside, as mentioned, is that they don't have the holes to fit harnesses, but if I ever get back into track-days enough that I need to fit a harness then there are plenty of aftermarket seats which are probably 'better' than the Renault Recaros.
Agree to everything that has been said. The plus side of the Renault option Recaros (the CS) is just the good compromise. Useable enough for a daily, and still supportive enough for harder work. Wasn't bothered with daily usage and my Megane won't do more than 3k miles a year, so I ended up with some CF bucket seats (which would be a pain as a daily!).
If you end up buying a full-fat rs250 with cup chassis, I'll happily buy the black/grey leather seats so you have a few ££ for buying recaros. ;-D
Pick the right car with out recaros and add them later, like I and many people do. I found the cloth seats supportive but just let the RS appeal down. Hence why I bought some.
Well iv found a great example, black, full leather recaros, monitor and all the good stuff. Its over budget but if it saves me buying more seats and helps with resale il justify it im sure. Haha
