One of my love-hate cars. Very funny at driving time but a bloody pain when you have to work on it, especially the timming belt replacement!!
Tried one last time to get the 14mm retention bolt undone on my gear actuator and it came undone. Took the ECU mount out (battery is already in the boot) to see if it gave any more space and managed to get a little more leverage. 30 mins later and all back together. Much shorter throw and because I fitted a whole new actuator, it now self-centres as well.
This little beauty turned up today, looking forward to releasing some more horses, if it’s half as good as it looks should make at least 80bhp.
Thought so, it’s looks a very good bit of kit and a great price. I’d messaged the guy about it and it turns out he’s local to me, he’d only made one to see if there was interest but says he can always make more.
I was looking at that too! Very tempting. It doesn’t have any fixing brackets welded onto it? But does it even need them?
Certain companies that charge £100+ more will tell you that you do, however this is basically the same as the RsTuning and the Ktec one (without the brackets) so I can't see the issue really.
Holy shit! Do you test it yet? I think I´ll go to the Cooler Worx one, but I´m waiting for the moment, well, better said, for the money! The belt looks amazing, now we have very similar Megs man!
Yes been out quickly it’s brilliant I love it, that clunky but smooth mechanical gearshift suits the whole feel of the car, plus it looks fantastic IMO. Shame clutch is on way so had to take it easy. I looked at coolerworx and CAE but when you add a cover to coolerworx it was closer to cost of ZPO and CAE, then carbon and cover ZPO still less after talking to ZPO than CAE in black so went with them. It’s custom so 20mm shorter as I wanted mix of track and road and he did white cable, spring and collar for me .. think it looks good Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yes, the cover is something to keep on mind. Maybe I´ll made one, I don´t know. When the moment comes I´ll see. Enjoy it!!
I had fun fitting new Calipers all round, new HC discs up front with PFC Z rated pads, new Brembo pads in rear and full flush with RBF660 fluid and replaced the fuel filter while it was on ramp. Rear lines were hard work to get out but managed eventually .. thought I was going to need new hoses at one point. Fitted titanium bleed screws as well, can’t find info on mr pink pins ? Are they still available as would be good to fit them, any info greatly appreciated Bit over the top really as there was nothing mechanically wrong with all the bits I took off, but calipers needed a refurb as I like things to be as close to perfect as I can get Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gathered my parts today ready for my front suspension refresh next weekend: https://photos.app.goo.gl/PNQcZADb9Uf6rjfG9 Thought I'd manage to fit it al last weekend but refreshing the rear beam took longer than expected, losing time having to wait until I had help to lift it back under the car. Looks much better though with POR 15 rust treatment and top coat (Being painted: https://photos.app.goo.gl/juXiaZAjJFH2gg819, https://photos.app.goo.gl/TNQGzwumXDrurZQm6) and new EibachPro springs, OEM dampers and Powerflex bushes. Drove really nice with no crashes and bangs and with the new gear actuator and short shift fitted https://photos.app.goo.gl/t5uofj5rCEesuKMEA and a gear lever that now self-centres, can't wait to get the front end to match the back.
Fitted carbon trim with red over the std chrome and tried out my plastikote covered start switch ... I like it but need to try find or get custom made an R.S. Sticker to go on it I think ? Before After Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Today I fitted some new calliper pins ... Thanks Mr Pink All fitted Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
after 'Check Anti-Pollution' dash warning a quick look around usual suspects (vacuum hoses, plugs, coils, oxygen sensor) discovered the pesky failed recirc-valve hose
took off the arch liners and gave them a clean then coated them with ACF50 and Chemical guys on the plastic arches IMG_20210422_153729 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20210422095436 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20210422095440 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG_20210422_153748 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG_20210422_153826 by matt eaton, on Flickr
It seems like the next week the lockdown will finish in this country so, just a little maintenance with hope to enjoy the car... The engine oil had 6000km. only, but seems a diesel engine one! The gearbox oil had not bad colour. Obviously, I´d change the oil filter too.
Created a new thread as I couldn't find this one.... Anyway, changed the air filter on the DCI, spent £2k at Cooksport and oh yesterday got the RS monitor fitted
Fitted a new drivers side window motor, hopefully won't get anymore problems (not holding my breath my though)
Gave the car a wash and then tried some G technic C4 trim restorer. Had been umming and arring whether to paint the trim as it always looks a little grey but surprisingly impressed with the C4 stuff. About £22 for 15 ml but the bottle has done the wing mirrors, B-billars, side skirts, rear wiper trim, under bonnet trim, rear bumper inserts, front bonnet vents and lower bumper vent. Not sure the pictures are great (left half treated and right half of bumper trim just washed), but it is much better than before and much better than anything else I have tried. Took a while to do but I'd definitely buy another bottle. https://photos.app.goo.gl/mk3H62Anmk4ZiMS88
Fitted a new aerial mast too. Bought the OEM one from Kam Racing but it's about 2-3 inches shorter than OEM. Looks identical apart from being shorter. The RDP aerial must be the OEM R26 part number. Works great though and the C4 trim restorer made the base look brand new so didn't change that.
So I washed both meganes today. I had some polytrol over lap on the white one so used a rubbing compound to get that out. Looking shiney
Fitted some bimmec 68mm studs and bolts and swapped back to short shift with ZPO shifter to see how it behaves Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fitted ZPO tow bar and sabelt strap ready first car trackday next month Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fitted a top silicon boost hose. Pressure is up to 1050mbar at max, so I must have had a boost leak somewhere. Was under 1000 before.
Powerflex top right mount fitted Changed to white stripe and starter button to match the ZPO Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No idea lol been in the garden chilling with a corona or two or three lol Well deserved after the ball ache of fitting it lol I will update you once I get out in it [emoji1303] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fitted adjustment extenders to my Mk3 rear BC’s. No more groping underneath the back of the car! Turned the shocks over and widened the existing slots in the boot floor, drilled holes in the boot mats and fitted the extenders. You want the side adjustment extenders for the Meg rear shocks.
