R26 Wet carpet being passenger seat

Discussion in 'Electrical & Interior - Security, ICE, Wiring Loom' started by Nunez20, Apr 17, 2016.

  1. Just noticed the rear passenger carpet is damp, checked the fronts and drivers side rear and all dry. The scuttles are fine is there a suspect area that would let water in the back?

Checked the trunk and no water is back there at all

  2. Check the door card?

  3. Check at the bottom of the doors there are drainage holes!
Check that these are clear,I used a piece of wire to clear mine and have been fine ever since.
Hope that sorts it for you.

  4. thanks I will take a look, the strange part is nothing else is wet apart from the very back carpet (against the seat), under the passenger seat is dry.

  5. Mine is the same, feels wet but carpet under doesn't. I'm not in the back much so it doesn't bother me really but interested to know what you find

  6. still no closer to sorting this , the drainage holes in the doors are fine. I have pulled off / back the trims inside the door and does not look like any water has passed there, pulled back the trim below the rear window as much as I can without removing stuff and it looks dry, did all this and soaked the car and nothing looked to be coming in. It only seems to do it with heavy rain or after I wash the car. It must not be alot coming is as the carpet is wet only in 1 spot and its not soaking you have to push down the carpet to feel it.

I am thinking I will need to remove the carpet in the back (assuming this is a rear seat out etc job) and then watch and see where the water is coming from

  7. Someone please correct me if I am wrong but have you checked your sunroof drainage pipes?
Also might be a good idea to get in the car and get someone to pour water on and the car.
Hopefully you might find out the cause with this.
Keep us updated with your findings.

  8. The car does not have a sunroof

  9. The pas scuttle has a wire going through it that goes into the car pas foot well. Water runs down that wire into the car. I had that issue. Cleaned it and silicone sealed it no more water. And I had a swimming pool in my car.

  10. Cable runs through the pas scuttle drain. Get your hose and run water into that side of the scuttle and pull the carpet away from under the dash you'll find water coming in there if not I'm outta ideas.
