Yes, I bought one yesterday Sorry these are not the best pics in the world, I took these quickly this morning. Well what can I say, what a brilliant all-rounder it is. Plus I'm so glad I went for the electric heated leather seats, they are so nice and still hug you well. RS Monitor is annoyingly addictive, especially if you grew up playing Gran Turismo. I've never had a car this new before, most of my usual fare is mid-90's, Japanese and with a big turbo. It's a very similar ride to the DC2 that I shall be parting with soon, but a lot more creature comforts. Not as engaging to drive as the DC2 or raw & characterful, but they are two different beasts, although very similar in a lot of ways. I now have two white cars. I hate white cars! But it suits the Meg so well with the contrasting black features. I know the stereo is a bit rubbish but compared to the speakers in the Integra it'll do for me. Had a bit of a flap last night when I realised you have to tax it right away. I knew this, but I had forgotten all about it until about midnight, whereupon I relieved myself of a bit more money.
I can't wait to drive it again, I'm actually trying to drag the mrs out to do Tesco shopping tonight rather than ordering online, just so I can drive it! Macready - I was going to put it up for £3995, I'll pm you if you're really interested & want the full spec, don't want to start a for sale thread in this one!
Nice car matey, mk3 Deffo best in white! Mines got a black roof and look mean as! I'm in same boat as you as in I've still got my old car lol secretly hoping it don't sell
Cheers bud, well I popped to the local Renault dealer yesterday and bought a spanking new set of the Renaultsport mats with the yellow embroidered logo & stitching. Felt that I hadn't spent enough already... I'm considering getting a Re-Map, most likely from RS Tuning, although a bit of a drive from Kent, however just weighing up if it will have detrimental long term effects, such as increased consumption of drive shafts & engine mounts!
Well there is a lot less turbo lag! That is the main thing, just modern advancement in turbo charging technology. The interior is of course a lot nicer and user friendly. The exhaust doesn't sound as good as the Subaru, I just had the standard P1 backbox and it made a lovely deep un-chavvy burble. The steering wheel on the P1, although MOMO, is enormous. It's like steering with a dinner plate and the only thing that lets the driving experience down. In the wet the Subaru feels like the Megane in the dry to some extent - there really is that much grip from the 4WD. The ride is similar, harsh but not uncomfortably so, the P1 is a lot more planted in the corners, but if you are in the dead-zone of torque and off-boost you really have to work to get it back on song, whereas the Megane spools up a lot faster and the LSD removes a lot of the understeer, in fact the LSD takes the understeer by the hand, leads it out back and shoots it in the head. Overall the best all-rounder is the Megane, but I would say the P1 is a tad bit more special, especially if, like me, you grew up cheering on McRae & Burns.
Nice comparison between the two, Its amazing how much technology has came on in recent years. My friend has an A3 trackcar and the improvements in chassis etc are incredible.
Nice, Looks clean mate. I do like that shape of Impreza, Just a shame so many people ruin them. One of my mates has a 340odd bhp one and the way it can cover ground in the damp and wet is unreal. Launches are brutal as well
Lovely P1 there  I sold my Clio Williams back in 1996 to buy a brand new MY97 Impreza Turbo, after seeing Prodrive one at the Autosport show, went on to own 6 different Imprza's, before coming back to Renaultsport in 2008 with an R26. Loved the scoobs, favourite was a MY99 with PPP, always wanted a P1! as Jamie says though, so many ruined and chaved up these days, P1 a future classic though.
That one was completely standard. I had another P1 a couple of years before that was running 401BHP and it was both awesome and very un-user friendly - Blitz Nur spec exhaust, stage 1 clutch, uprated gearset, intercooler, engine mounts etc. Basically it had been done properly, not when a 'Darren' or 'Bazza' fits a big exhaust, turns up the boost and wonders why it's gone bang. Horrible to drive uphill in traffic and very anti-social due to the exhaust and don't even talk about fuel consumption. It still had a bit of lag, so when you put your foot down in 2nd gear for example, it went something like this; "Well it's all very nice, but I really don't see what the fuss.......... ............................shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit!!!!"
Nice little report. Pretty much what I figured. My brother has recently bought an R26 and I am blown away by how good a car it is. Pound for pound I can't think of a better performance car at the moment. You would struggle to get a decent Subaru for similar money and it would be a lot older if you did. Technology certainly does move things on when applied correctly.
