Picked my 250 up last friday. I have an odd problem... So I have keyless entry and start. I walk up to the car. Hand over the sensor it unlocks just fine. In I get. Shut door. Press the Stop/Start button. If its a cold start it turns over once or twice then stops. It then will not allow me to try the button again. I have to open and close the door. It usually works the second or 3rd time. Failing that if I put the Keycard into the slot and pull out it lets me have another go. If I have been driving it and stop and come back a short time later. It normally fires up first time. I have replaced both batteries in the Fobs. However twice now even after decent journeys I have had Battery Charging pop up on the dash, and at lunch today. Battery Low start car. From this it sounds like the battery is knackered (2010 on original battery)? Any other suggestions?
could well be battery, it will disable the keyless function if there's not enough juice in the battery. I could be talking crap though, i'm sure someone will verify either way.
Could well be it. Spoke to the dealer and he has said buy a new battery and he will reimburse me. So will do that tonight. He did mention before I collected it was flat as a witches tit. Plus the whole charging thing popping up on the dash. Just seems a bit weird. Also with the Stop/Start button. Do you just press it in once? Or hold it in to start?
You just have to press it once. It's odd that the keyless is playing up but then it will actually crank the engine fine, but low batteries can cause all sorts of issues. I would suggest a fresh battery anyway and see what happens, especially if he will reimburse you. If it's been getting flat then it's a sign it's worn out. I'm on a 10 plate and I've got a new one arriving tomorrow as my original has had it.
New battery fitted last night. In the dark.... So far so good. Started first press of the button last night a few times. Same this morning. Fires up and starts instantly. So looks like it was indeed a duff battery. Very strange a couple times it would struggle to turn over, then fire up Ok.
