Why are these cars so bad? Today whilst waiting in the car for the thunderstorm to pass, I noticed water dripping on my right knee from the top corner of the windscreen. This is in addition to water affecting: passenger footwell (from scuttle drain) passenger footwell (from air-con drain) drivers footwell drivers door lock button drivers window reg drivers 'a' pillar wiring passenger window reg boot lock button rear number plate light condensation in both rear light clusters Also, water seems to be making an ironic bid for freedom from the cooling system. Jesus, Clios are nowhere near this much trouble. This is on a car only just over 5 years old. Piss poor.
Have to say I haven't noticed this at all, but will check some of the areas you mentioned . . . Only complaints I've got are the frequent trips to the petrol station whilst driving sensibly!
Most of that sounds like blocked scuttle panel drains. And the window regs are a common problem due to Renault not putting any wet liners in the doors! Easy enough to fix yourself, although the water in the foot wells etc will probably require most of the foam etc out to dry. I did read about another member Daz? who had a windcreen replaced and it wasn't sealed properly from the factory! Is your boot lock button actually affected by water? As i had a problem with it unlocking itself every time i put the car into reverse / randomly and it was a poorly connected earth next to the passenger side rear light cluster, re tightened the bolt it and its been fine ever since! (touch wood!)
Oh the water from the cooling system may be a leak from the radiator as i've heard its quite common for them to leak from the plastic end tanks i think?
I have unblocked the scuttles drains and now i'm in the process of drying out the carpet with many silica gel bags. Air con still leaks into passenger footwell though. How do you unblock the drain for that? Ren charged me £293 to replace drivers window reg and A pillar wiring and door switch - all ruined by water. It still doesn't work properly. I 'fixed' the passenger reg myself for nothing. Boot lock switch has a mind of it's own - sometimes it opens whilst driving, sometimes I can't start the engine as it thinks the boot is open. I took it off and it's corroded to hell. Car has failed MOT twice for in-op plate light due to being corroded. Windscreen leaking is a new one as of yesterday, and to my knowledge the window has not been replaced. So that'll be running down the pillar and corroding anything it comes into contact with then. These cars really are shite; so badly designed and engineered.
I think theres another drain underneath the aircon unit in the plastic trim that can block also theres a guide on the other site http://www.meganesport.net/footwell.htm
