Over the last couple of days I've noticed the washer jets ( front, back and headlight) have been really gutless and intermittent... Now they have completely packed up When I pull the stork to clear the windscreen I can hear the motor working but no sign of life from the jets... Any ideas? A pump or something maybe? Has anyone else had this happen and is it likely to be a ball ache to remedy? Cheers chaps, Mark.
Pump has gone. I experienced that with Kangoo which I drive at work. Pump costs £15-20 and labour about £30-40. It took less than 2 hours to sort it out.
Could be a split in a hose? But then it would just be either the windscreen, rear screen or the headlights. It wouldn't be all three. So yeh, pump maybe?
Does anyone know if the headlight washers have a one way valve? I fill my washer bottle and it pours straight out of the n/s jet,
Disassemble the pump and in the first half where the hoses conect is a little piston with some rubber in it that moves either side depending what window are you cleaning. (It is only press fit so don't worry) Just take off the piston and cut the rubber flush with the plastic so it has free movement. Also ensure free movement in the plastic where it goes in. I had to do this two days ago as both of my washers stopped working. Also first the rear a month ago, then fronts started to go bad and stopped in the end. The rubber must have expanded from the washing fluid I use...
Got it sorted, switched the pump for the windscreen with the headlamp one and now they both seem to be working fine....... For now
