  1. As above really! I literally own nothing but an Autoglym bodywork and wheels set, that I was bought for Christmas (and never used).

^that's it there! (In no way am I advertising it, just for reference!)

Is it any good? Should I bin it all?

I want to get into detailing, I want it to look beautiful for summer! For info's sake, it's a Sport Yellow car with Bblack yellow Recaros. If you had say, £100, for all the interior and exterior, what would you buy? And why? Is that enough budget?

    Halp!

  2. No is a good starter kit

I would add to the list

    Auto smart tardis
Some form of mild clay bar (meguires do a basic kit)
    Some decent shampoo
Chemical guys new look trim gel
    Autoglym hd wax

That lot coupled with your kit will see you right

Sometimes you can get way to caught up in products/fads but autoglym will give you good results if used correctly

  3. Any recommendations on the Shampoo? Would something like Iron-X be good to have? Most of my driving is motorway, and I pick up a lot of tar!

  4. I'm a big fan of Soft99 wax, I used King of Gloss on my 265 and it came up great. Nice beading too.

Shampoo wise, I used AF lather or Meguiars Gold glass.

For tyres I use Meguiars (though flick can become an issue).

I don't really have any preference for wheel cleaners.

    Polish I use AF Tripple.

Then the likes of Iron Out or Iron-X to remove tar.

Have you access to a pressure washer? Snow foam is cool to use too .

I like Iron out for wheels but you need a specific tar remover for tar although clay is pretty good at it but you need loads of lube!

  6. For cleaning wheels, Autobrite Purple Rain is brilliant stuff, similar to Iron-X I believe.

The best tyre/trim dressing I've used is Autosmart Highstyle It gives a good matt or gloss finish depending how much you use and if left to dry for a bit, doesn't fling in my experience.

  7. This is what I have so far, although i feel like possibly I might need to do some paint correction too...

  8. Personally I'd drop the quick detailer, as you get some in the clay kit.
You could get fk1000p as its high temp sealant so you can use it on your car and you wheels and is very durable.
I use snow foam and am not massively impressed with it tbh I have heard very good things about a citrus pre wash which is allegedly much better at loosening dirt and grime than snow foam.
You can get trixx which is an all in one fallout/ tar remover if your on a budget and can't get both.
For paint correction you will need either a DA or rotary polisher plus polishes etc.
You could always try a glaze first to see if that fills in any minor imperfections - all depends on how bad it is/ how far you want to go, but black hole or diamond white are pretty good IMO

  9. Interior I don't use anything special really, just a hoover, some glass cleaner and some Autoglym Vinyl/rubber care to shine the dash a bit.

    Exterior if I had £100 i'd buy:

    • Decent shampoo and washmitt - I'm using Duragloss 901 shampoo and a Gtechniq microfibre mitt at the moment.
    • Wheels - Valet pro bilberry wheel cleaner & 1" detailing brush. Lasts ages and you can mix as strong/weak as you need.
    • Tar remover - Valet pro citrus tar remover, works well and doesn't need to be bought by the gallon like tardis.
    • Iron / fallout remover - Bilt Hamber Korrosol iron remover, works well and is cheaper than iron x.
    • Clay bar - Again Bilt Hamber is a good choice, but next time I clay i'm going to try a clay mitt.
    • Wax - Collinite 476S - THE best wax for the money. Great shine and lasts about 6 months!
    • Correction wise - Gtechniq P1 and their double sided pads.
