Vibrating from drivers wheel under load at 50

  1. Tried track rod ends and wheel balancing but still doing it, any ideas?

    Hub bearings.

  3. Swap wheels over front to rear

So it is safe to assume that you've had a good old tug (Fnnarr) on the wheels to check for minor movement in the wheels on both horizontal and vertical axis?

If the steering components are fine and the problem seems to present itself at 50mph or above, does it only do it when booting or is it still there at light/no load?

  5. Its very much like when your wheel is out of balance. Wheel isn't though. Under load vibrates but dump the clutch and nothing so only under load. I can drive through it though.....

checked both wheels at garage and there was 'play' so changed Track ends so now no play. Driveshaft maybe?

  6. I had similar on my old clio 172. Would vibrate a lot like you describe. The inner cv boot had failed and the grease had escaped and the bearings were shagged.

    Only at around 50mph...bad tyre???

It's deffo coming thru the car and not the steering? Any audible "clunks" or "knocks"?

I suspect it is driveshaft related but would really need to see the car to confirm/deny. Have the wheels all been checked?

  9. Changed wheels around, still there. No audible clunks or knocks. Vibration comes through car at it worst at 50 but you can drive through it.....

If it is a wheel balance issue, moving the wheels around will not resolve the issue as the imbalance is still there and will continue to travel thru the car. Have the wheels been on a balancing machine (a pretty modern one)? These can tell you if you have a flat spot and if the weight/fixing points are correct.

Have you done your wheel nuts up tight enough? Really stupid question but could be that simple!

  12. Got a feeling it's a driveshaft....

  13. Ok, driveshaft replaced - still no improvement. No movement in steering wheel, all through the transmission. Comes on worse at 50 but can drive through it. Diff or the dreaded DMF?

Does your DMF make any knocking noises? These tend to cause harsh idles and knocking rather than vibration at a specific speed/load

  15. Absolutely nothing other than vibration. Diff maybe?

  16. Any luck with this, im suffering the extact problem.
Im thinking dmf or a gearbox bearing.

  17. Really. What gearbox you running?

  18. Megane 225 trophy, standard gearbox as far as i know 70k on the clock. Has been running a stage 1 remap for a fair few years.

  19. So yours is doing the exactly the same? Got a feeling it's the DMF....

  20. Reading thru, was like u had been driving my car. No matter what gear, only underload around 50, vibration. I thort id do a quick search on hear n when i read thru i was hoping u had found the problem.

  21. I've done the driveshafts and all the other suspension parts and still there. I thought Lsd but given your running the standard box, it's not my Diff, I'd recon DMF....

  22. Iv only looked at the transmission side as its underload. The bit that steering me at the box, is its the same speed no matter what gear or revs.
In saying that iv ordered a smf on the off chance.

  23. its more the speed than which gear. Posted it on FB and a couple came back saying they replaced flywheel and that solved it....

The only way to know for sure will be to break the box from the block and inspect it.

We've got a 250 in for inspection that has a similar issue except with an SMF fitted.

  25. You normally get dmf noise on start or when turning the engine off, as this creates the most jerky movement.
You can get it when taking up the bite on the clutch too.
Do you get any of these symptoms?

  26. Fly wheel will have been put on slightly on the piss, a mate of mine had this on his Leon.
You could drive through it, came at about 50 went at 65!

  27. Mine doesnt suffer from any noises or jerking.

  28. How bad is the vibration? Can you feel it through the clutch pedal?

  29. It come thru the cabin from the front, nothing on the steering wheel or pedals. If i dip the clutch or come off the throttle it gone.
The level of vibration is equal to badly balanced wheels.

  30. absolutely the same.....

  31. Will be keeping eye on this thread, I have a 225 trophy on 80k and mine does this..

    Tried;
    balancing the wheels
Steering arms and track rods (did have play in passengers side steering arm)

Sorry if being stupid but DMF? SMF?

  32. dual mass flywheel

    single mass flywheel

  33. Thanks!!

  34. Very strange mate.... The are not many more bits to change!

  35. Surely someone must have had this issue and resolved this???

  36. My smf turned up today, il let u know once fitted

  37. when are you fitting it?

  38. Im tempted to wait for it to go bang. Incase its not the dmf, that way she will only have 1 trip to the garage.

  39. Not sure it's gonna go bang and also might cause more damage than if sorted earlier.....

  40. Or it might damage my new bits, and make me cry.
