Hi Guys, I have a 250 with 50k km on the clock, I've been noticing that the front end appears very stiff, the rear suspension feels plusher in relation. Not sure if it has always been the case and if my mind is playing tricks on me. Over carpark speed bumps, it almost feel the front end does not compress over the bumps, nor extend very much. Over bumpy sections of B roads, it feels like at times the front loses some contact with the ground, hence when accelerating, the engine seems to cut power when it senses that lift. I've brought it to the dealership which ran some test but said there is no issue, I suspect however, they were only testing the shock rebound. Is there any possibility old shocks can seize ? Or are there any other potential issues , balljoint lock ? I don't hear any weird noises or creaks. I did run H&R springs in the past, but have since switched back to stock. I recalled the H&R lowered setup being more pliant, is that even possible ? Not sure if that would have led to a premature death of the shocks.
if you change your spring i would change the shocks with it while it is all dismantled, If you fit lower spring you need shorte shocks unless the oem have enough lower stroke to cope and not bottom out
At least for the Cup version shocks, you are okay with the lowering springs on them, they are short enough for that. For the topic reply, your shocks can be dead, its no miracle if they are. For me, im still running original shocks and springs (Cup version), and im soon going to reach 200 000km with them, yes it sometimes feels to drive differently than my previous Megane with 100 000km on the clock, but nothing major really.
