Variable boost issue

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Mr Spoon, Jun 16, 2021.

  1. Ok so post remap I have a problem from 3rd gear, wide open throttle and when changing up from 2nd red line to 2rd.

Boost spikes up to 1400mbar, then drops to 1100mbar. However, If I slow to 3k revs in 3rd and wide open throttle, consistent boost 1250-1300mbar to red line.

I have a forge dump valve and blanking plate fitted.

No obvious signs of an air leak. No warning lights. No ecu data etc either.

Now, let's assume this is the holy grail of maps, so please save your "bad map" comments, that should only come after thorough investigation, does anyone have any idea what it might be?

Do I need to update anything else?

  2. What spring are you running in the dv, might be on the lower pressure one still and leaking some boost?

  3. Its the standard Forge DV spring. I did think this might be the issue, I work only a couple of miles from Forge so I'll pop down today and pickup an uprated spring to see if that makes a difference. Thank you

  4. So I've been to Forge, the valve already had the mapped car spring (yellow), but kindly I have been given the green for stock and blue if i wish to go mental.

It seems its a bad map..... there you go.... thanks for holding on your comments!

Booked in tomorrow with a better mapping company (I'm not travelling to Leeds) who has previously mapped my BMW and also did Forge motorpsorts own megane RS.
