Great thread. Some real dedication, only thing I am not sure about is the tailpipe (but I was guilty of putting a peco big bore 4 on a car about 30 years ago, one for the old timers) Seen a couple of threads like this on cliosport. Be interesting seeing a cost break down as you progress..... if you dare to add it up. They make me feel lazy at just buying a nice car and driving it.
Yeah with the exhaust I need some that would fit over the existing tailpipe to bring the further out to stop marking the bumper. I may purchase another milltek back box if I cant find someone to swap this ktec backbox with. It would be interesting to add it up. I've got a folder with 95% of the invoices of stuff I bought. I had the ktec exhaust and it was sticking out like yours now with the extenders. I still have it in the garage somewhere Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk

done a few bits since i last updated it, i grew abit bored of the ktec exhaust and how loud and its drone, so i went back to the milltek. New milltek by matt eaton, on Flickr and whislt i was doing bits on the car i noticed the cv gaiters had started to crack so i got 2 new SNR driveshafts and had the fitted at awmotorworks New Driveshafts by matt eaton, on Flickr today i fitted some new rocker covers bolts and some studs for the ignition coils KTR Rocker Cover Bolt Set by matt eaton, on Flickr KTR Coil Pack Conversion by matt eaton, on Flickr Nrew Rocker Cover Bolts And coi Studs by matt eaton, on Flickr Rocker Cover Bolts by matt eaton, on Flickr and lastly at the end of the month im finally getting the paint sorted, earlier this year i was just washing the bonnet and the lacquer started peeling, so im having the front end, sides and boot and rear bumper resprayed. with the paint hopefully been semi decent lol ive started buying new trims and diamond badges for it, i also got hold of new bumper decals that someone was selling Door prism and dash seal by matt eaton, on Flickr New aerial base by matt eaton, on Flickr New scuttle and fog light blanks by matt eaton, on Flickr New R26 decals by matt eaton, on Flickr
few small updated i dropped the car off at the bodyshop back at the start of November and finally received back on the 23rd December after a complete nightmare. the bodyshop couldnt get the car stated. it turned over fine and 'had spark' apparently and his mechanic friend came to look and could get it stated they first thought the pump wasn't working but i could the fuel coming from the exhaust. so the they disconnected the pump and fuel came out. Then they suspected the immobilizer and started to disconnect the battery to refresh the immobilizer (wasn't). they had already removed the coils and spark plugs to get rid of the fuel. i wasn't entirely sure what they had done to it at this stage, and because i spent so much on the engine before i dont really like some unknown messing about with it. i was starting to get pissed off with them and just wanted the car away from them so phoned up RAC to come and have a look the bloke checked everything and they told him it had spark. so he couldn't find out what was wrong so i asked for recovery (just to get it away from them lol). so waited for that and asked how far i could get it recovered which was luckily anywhere i wanted. so had the car took over to Alex at awmotorworks. finally got home at 8pm after leaving work early at 12. had a video sent in the morning from Alex with the engine running....... it was the spark plugs fowled up, i guess from them starting it up for short periods of time to move it around the workshop, and had been stood down there nearly 7 weeks (which also fucked me off) Painted by matt eaton, on Flickr looked ok, but i washed it after a couple of weeks and as i started drying it i noticed there were patches of small micro-blistering on nearly every panel. i went to another bodyshop to see what they said about it and it could be caused by water in the air lines or moisture coming out the paint and im best off waiting for warmer weather as more could/probley show. the original bodyshop say there works comes with a 12 month guarantee so watch this space. anyway ive decided i want to refit the aircon to the car and after stripping it out and few years ago and cutting the pipes i went on the hunt for a new set and a second hand compressor. both were cleaned up and the hoses painted in silver to freshen them up Aircon Pipes by matt eaton, on Flickr Aircon Compressor by matt eaton, on Flickr also bought a new condenser and dryer along with all new seals and bolts/clips and new pressure sensor Condenser and dryer by matt eaton, on Flickr Seals and bolts by matt eaton, on Flickr had a pair of badges and door handles sprayed in 205110 Sprayed badges and handles by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20201225153152 by matt eaton, on Flickr thats it for now, ive got a to do list to get though engine mounts sort passenger window regulator fit aircon fit rear wiper motor
been a while since i updated this, done a few bits to it i was having trouble with the door mechanisms and the door not shutting and also the exterior door handle not returning. so it had new latch cables and the internal handle mechanisms and also the the window on the drivers side stopped working and the motor had actually melted so it had 2 new motors as well. i also tided up the door looms as well. Inner handle mechanism by matt eaton, on Flickr Door Looms cleaned by matt eaton, on Flickr every year i have to get a friendly mot tester to pass my car with the decat, so to end that and make the car a bit more quiter i decided to have a sports cat fitted, i had the cat coated in cerakote to keep the bay temps down, i had this fitted white i had the cambelt and water pump done i also had new rear axle bushes fitted and the aircon reinstalled Sports Cat by matt eaton, on Flickr Cerakoted Sports Cat by matt eaton, on Flickr Gasket and Throttle pipe by matt eaton, on Flickr i made a plated to cover the aux belt to stop any stones getting to it Belt cover by matt eaton, on Flickr Belt cover by matt eaton, on Flickr few other bits ive done is put the rear wiper back on and renewed the engine mounts and powerflex bushes Rear Wiper Parts by matt eaton, on Flickr Rear Wiper Fitted by matt eaton, on Flickr New Mount by matt eaton, on Flickr
i fitted a new radiator, i went for the nissens one it was only £55 delivered, the quality isn't as good as the valeo just by feel of it but so far its been alright while i was fitting the radiator i fitted the powder coated thermostat housing, coolant sensor and thermostat, i bought a 2nd hand fan as well to clean up and fit, new rubber mounts as well New Rad by matt eaton, on Flickr Radiator Mounts by matt eaton, on Flickr Rad And Fan by matt eaton, on Flickr Expansion Tank and Sensors by matt eaton, on Flickr Thermostat Housing by matt eaton, on Flickr New Rad by matt eaton, on Flickr Fitting New Rad by matt eaton, on Flickr gave the arches a clean, coated in acf50 IMG_20210422_153729 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG_20210422_153748 by matt eaton, on Flickr
ive been having trouble with the connectors under the seats and causing the airbag light to come on every time i moved the seats, i bought 2 sets of deutsch connectors and fitted them, hasn't come on since Deutsch Connector by matt eaton, on Flickr New Seat Airbag Connector by matt eaton, on Flickr lately ive been having a weird feeling in the steering and strange noises coming from the dash, when doing low speeds and sitting in the traffic theres been dead spots in the steering and at high speeds the steering felt it locked in places andwasnt a nice feeling, i decided to fit a new steering column motor as its easier than the rack and its something i could do. wasnt to hard to do just getting to the 2 bolts at the back was a bit tricky with sausage fingers. broke the adjustment handle though so ordered a new one New Steering Column by matt eaton, on Flickr Fitting new Steering Column by matt eaton, on Flickr Fitting new Steering Column by matt eaton, on Flickr fitted Fitting new Steering Column by matt eaton, on Flickr steering feels much nicer and lighter. future plans are to still change the rack and also fit a subframe i got a couple of years ago and change the droplinks and rotation links and a 22mm ARB instead of the standard 21mm one Sub Frames Painted by matt eaton, on Flickr Sub Frame Painted by matt eaton, on Flickr New Rack by matt eaton, on Flickr
Christ Matt you don’t do things by half haha stunning as usual mate. I fitted a brand new Nissens one a few months ago, looked identical to the old one which was weeping under pressure from the top pipe
lol i just clean bits as i go the radiator seemed lighter than the valeo but maybe thats due to build up in the rad, the valeo had bits along the top and bottom to stop bending the fins on the edge but the nissens didn't, but at a 1/3 of the price of the valeo you cant complain really
done a few more bits to it, firstly ive fitted another radiator support subframe. with the old one the rivnuts for the under tray/bumper bottom bolts to had spun and were no longer usable. i fitted a pair of the brackets between the subframe and body, i had these powder coated as the normally end up as a rusty mess. Front Subframe and New Brackets by matt eaton, on Flickr next up is the handbrake, i tried to change both of the a couple of months ago. i had no problem with the drivers side but the passenger side was a bitch and the cable wouldn't come though the tube. there was so must rust up there! in the winter i always have trouble with the passenger sticking on. it must be a mix of water and rust up there. i ordered 2 new tubes from renault. fitting was not as bad i was expecting the hardest part was releasing the clips that the rear seats clip in to Rusty Handbrake Tubes by matt eaton, on Flickr New Handbrake tubes by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG-20210828-WA0002 by matt eaton, on Flickr next up was the small plastic trims the sit on the under side, i was going down the motorway the other week when i saw one flying in to the hard shoulder, i decided to cable tie them to the bumper undertray so they cant fly off now (there £40+ each from renault) IMG20210903095834 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20210903095728 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20210903095814 by matt eaton, on Flickr started to paint the rear axle, the arms were the worst part for rust, so i cleaned the rust the treated with kurust then went over with POR15, still needs another coat though IMG20210903103402 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20210903112020 by matt eaton, on Flickr
had the subframe fitted the other day along with the steering, refurbed wishbones drop links and rotation links. i made a little heat shield to cover the rack, also had a 22mm ARB fitted as well. when i had my MOT done couple of months ago i got a couple of advisories ABS cable brackets corroded and play in the lower bearing on the drivers side, so i bought new brackets for both side and new inserts and bearings for both sides IMG20211024101533 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211024101453 by matt eaton, on Flickr ABS Sensor Brackets by matt eaton, on Flickr decided to upgrade the pads as the brembo pads arnt much cop, went for pfc z rated pads PFC Z Rated Pads by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211003101339 by matt eaton, on Flickr i happened to put the multimeter on the alternator one day and saw it was reading 15.5v volts, not sure how long it had been like this, after asking on here i bought a new regulator and set about fitting, i removed the inlet manifold and went from that way as i wanted to give the inlet a clean Alternator Regulator by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211009114859 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211009114905 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211009120529 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211009120753 by matt eaton, on Flickr its now reading 14v so i guess it worked
next up i decided to refit the trim s that sit in the bumper and direct the air flow to the radiator, i thought i had them in my shed but couldnt find them, so i ordered a set from renault and got the 2 that sit down the side from a breakers yards, the 2 the sit down the side needs trimming to suit the bigger intercooler, that may be the reason i didnt bother with them before lol im going to get another pair though as i now know where i can cut and where i can leave them Bumper Trims by matt eaton, on Flickr Radiator Trims by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211024094244 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211024094241 by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG20211024100905 by matt eaton, on Flickr lastly i had a set of seat belts rewebbed, i went with silver but its more of a dark silver unlike the OEM silver. it goes with the anthracite colour of the interior handles/trim, the rear centre belt was abit of a faff but the metal inside the seat is razor sharp! Where did you get the ABS sensor brackets please? mine are all rusty on one side and held the wire with cable ties, not ideal.
i got them from allcarpastfast but any renault dealer can get them http://www.catcar.info/renault/?lan...pbWc9PXx8Z3JwX2lkPT0zN3x8c3ViR3JwX2lkPT0zN0Y= 8200322694 8200307471 8200307470 8200307465 ABS Cable Brackets by matt eaton, on Flickr company called kolour koncept
Hello!! Nice work and what a nice car you have hehe. Do you know de measures for the mk3 caliper spacers in order to fit to the r26 hubs? I'm planing to fit them on my r26 by making the spacers by myself since I have acces to milling machines
first 2022 update next up was the rear axle, i read online that you could fit the mk3 megane axle on a mk2. its better built and stronger than the mk2. the mk3 megane also has the same axle as a scenic which are easier to get and cheaper. i found one on ebay but had alot of surface rust. i decided to use the mk2 brake lines which i got new from renault and drilled holes in the beam to fit new mounting for them i also replaced the ABS sensors as well. i had the axle blasted and powder coated in black. once back i fitted a new set of standard bushes. new discs and yellowstuff pads and pure motorsport stub axle spacers (only 10mm as the axle is wider than the mk2) Hubs Painted by matt eaton, on Flickr Rear Axle Brake Lines by matt eaton, on Flickr MK3 grand scenic rear axle by matt eaton, on Flickr Rear Hubs With Spacers by matt eaton, on Flickr Rear ABS Sensors by matt eaton, on Flickr IMG-20220319-WA0006 by matt eaton, on Flickr New axle by matt eaton, on Flickr New axle by matt eaton, on Flickr old one was abit crusty New axle by matt eaton, on Flickr

great job friend. I also think about changing to mk3. but I don't understand, why did you put spacers?
i had spacers on the mk2 axle and i liked where the wheels sat, im using the mk2 discs so i can use the R26 wheels still. but the mk3 axle allows you to fit the spacers behind the stub axle which it better for the wheel bearings
Any more pics of how the R26 rear wheels sit with the mk3 axle? Especially with the spacers!! I read that the mk3 axle was already about 20mm wider so was expecting that the R26 wheels would sit almost perfect without spacer... Any tips on sourcing the axle from a scenic or is yours a mk3 Megane one? Trying to source a mk3 Mégane axle in Ireland will be difficult so will be aiming for a scenic one. Know if the grand scenic is also the same? Is the part number stamped on the axle?
i can get some pictures of the fitment, mine is from a grand scenic diesel mk3. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/203442216203 no part numbers on it, its built alot better than the mk2
Thanks Matt, that's my mind made up to retain the OEM wheels, any 5x114.3 wheels I've seen on the rear look ring as the offset is too low. This sits perfect and that's with a 10mm stud axle spacer... I had read the mk3 axle was 20mm wider that the mk3 axle, so with these spacers your effectively 40mm wider track, 20mm either side. Have I that right? Paul
Been just over a year since i lasted updated the thread haven't done alot to be honest, smelt burning from the doorcards and the windows stopped. only one thing it could of been and of course the regulator had melted. i fitted 2 new motors and regulators along with 2 new door looms. i also put a plastic membrane on the door to stop water touching the motor/regulator Burnt Connector by matt eaton, on Flickr Burnt Connector by matt eaton, on Flickr New Door Looms by matt eaton, on Flickr touchwood i haven't had a problem, jinxed it now though probley ha i had a problem before with alternator where it would chuck out over 15v. i changed the regulator and that sorted it. but it started doing it again recently. I found a new refurb valeo unit on ebay and finally got round to fitting yesterday, went on ok also fitted a new auxiliary belt and tensioner New Alternator by matt eaton, on Flickr New Alternator by matt eaton, on Flickr New alternator Fitted by matt eaton, on Flickr gave it a service as well New cone filter oil + filter spark plugs gearbox oil Cabin filter
