My car has the most recent r link which needs an update as the USB is incredibly temperamental. When I tried to do it online it said I needed the sd card that the car came with which wasn't present when I got the car. Will the one I've put in there since have all of the correct information on there to allow me to update the R link or will I have to take it to a main stealer and see if they can sort it?
I'm going to say no, it won't. When yo say you tried to do it online, you mean from within the car, using it's data connection? If so, it will only allow small, app updates that way I think. It insists on anything important being done through the SD card and a PC. Have you spoken to a dealer about getting a new card? I don't think they will sort it for you unless you have the proper card tbh.
I tried to do it on the computer but it said I needed the original card. I'll try it with the card I got from Renault to replace it and see if that works. It must have heard me because the rs monitor gave up on me completely today so if I can't sort it it'll be going back to Renault.
Just out of interest, did Renault give you a new SD card for free, or did you have to buy it? Either way, glad you got it sorted out.
It's a bit long winded but: visit https://gb.rlinkstore.com/home register on there if you haven't before download R-Link Toolbox for PC or Mac Install software Remove SD card from car with ignition turned off - don't just yank it out Insert SD card from car into computer, but do not let the computer format it! software should detect the card and ask if you want to update it do not remove the card until the software tells you it's finished. It takes a little while and it may even make a backup. don't put it back into the car until you can either leave the engine running for a while, or actually drive somewhere as the car then updates and this takes time, during which you don't want it turning off really.
