Are we still about "Under 8" tread? If you got budget you can go even for Ferrari 458 or McLaren P1. Megane RS is not the best car in the world, but it is perfect vehicle for ordinary people like me, who may purchase and experience quick every day car for relatively small money.

Very impressive time. Car looks lovely too. 35-40k can buy a LOT of car though. You can get a brand new supercharged Elise for that or an R400 Caterham specced to the rafters. I know they aren't practical, but I doubt many people will buy these as a practical car .
Strong work Renault. Just goes to show that they don't need shit loads of power to hit the top step for hot hatches.
Great looking car, sounds fantastic and a great time. Although I think the power could have been a little bit more.
They can just up the power some more when another car beats the record. No point going full power when its not needed to get the time.
