I've ordered brembo hc discs for the front of my megane 225 but want a good street pad that won't trash my paint. Whats the ones to have?
DS2500s are fine if you like rolling out from junctions when cold and pad deposits on your disks when you use them hard. Anything else really, I've got on fine with CL RC5s but I'd stick clear of the ds2500s.
Ds1.1 seems a out and out track pad from reading? rc5+ seems a better option but I've heard they destroy paint.
I ran DS2500s for over a year on my 197, including a trackday and thought they were a great pad. Worked like standard from cold, better bite when warm and no fade on track. I have DS1.11 now on the megane, they're ultra powerful, probably easily double the power of standard brembo pads but are weak for the first few stops from a cold start, but still perfectly useable. They do seem quite harsh on discs and squeal at low speeds - I'm more than likely going to change them for DS2500s for the road and save the DS1.11 for track use.
I ran RC5+ pads on my last car. I did about 10 track days and 15,000 miles with them. They were no different to OEM in normal daily use and never faded on the track, in fact the hotter they get the better they get. I didn't experience any problems with paint being affected either. When the pads on my Megane need replacing I won't be considering any thing else, RC5+'s are epic.
Ones that don't throw hot shards of metal into the wheels and side of the car. i opted for rc5+ and new hc discs which I fitted yesterday. Very impressed and much better than the original drilled discs and Delphi pads on the front which never seemed to work properly. Just the the rear pads to sort now as the discs are virtually new and the pads original Renault ones.
