225 UK Xenon's

  1. Hi all, i can get a decent set of UK Xenon's complete with loom etc. but i live in the Netherlands so anybody knows if they can be adjusted or something to be used in a LHD car? And anybody knows what exactly is needed to get Xenon in a non Xenon PH1 225?

  2. From what I gather you are much better off going HID... you need more than just the lights and loom (ballasts and maybe more) and I don't think they can be re-aimed laterally.

  3. Well a mate of mine bought a RHD megane just for the engine and a few bits, he offered me the headlights, only needs 1 new ballast everything else i can have for a very sharp price

When I was looking all the kit was much cheaper to buy in Europe!

  5. But it still is a massive price tag! Did you also looked if the UK Xenon projector/reflector differs from the Europe one? I had a look at the back on one of the Xenon's and i noticed a sort of thread that could be to adjust the reflector? The problem is i want to build it in asap, but i don't want to have trouble with the beam's pointing the wrong way as it's from a RHD into a LHD car.
Do you also know if there are 1 or 2 sensor's for leveling the xenon's and are the loom(s) for the sensor(s) on a non-xenon car already on it ?

  6. The loom for sensor should be in it.
Regarding the LHD to RHD you have to take apart the headlight, than take apart the projector, than somehow modify the cutoff shield in it which produces the step in the projectors. It would be much easier finding an LHD headlights if you dont have experience with modding the headlights

  7. I've got someone who's looking at the european renault number for the xenon's, if it's the same as the UK headlight it's a matter of finetuning the xenon beam right? As i know with some BMWs and MINI's there's a lever that can be switched between LHD and RHD inside the headlight itself

Do you also know if there's only 1 sensor?

  8. There should be one at front one at rear. Regarding the xenon it for sure isn't true, the lever you are referring to is found on hella e55 bixenon rhd projector so they can be ridden on LHD roads. It isn't ment to be primary LHD and wouldn't light the road as it should.

  9. Thanks Milos, i guess i have to take all the sensors, loom and ballasts from the UK car and source myself a new set of headlights

  10. You can modify the projector. It isn't hard, you only have to be willing to open em up and not to be afraid of doing so. If you plan to go this route I will guide you further. The hardest pard is removing the glass from the housing. The rest is clipped on or bolted.

If the shield of the OEM xenon is like this one than it can be simply flipped around vertical axis's if it is a curved one than you simply fabricate a new one

  11. Well it's worth a try i guess, i can get the full set with in very good condition xenon unit's for €250,-

So i guess you have done this before on your own Megane?

  12. I didn't did it yet on mine, i will install a different projector in mine (bi-x) but I know there is to know about xenon sistems and projectors as I'm retrofitting, repairing, and modifying them (to increase the width of the beam etc etc) from the time they came around

  13. I've had a quick look yesterday in the Xenon (still latin in my mates house) and it looks like the flat plate above that sits behind the xenon bulb if i'm correct. Is it really as easy as just flipping it around?????

If you get anymore pic's like the one above i would really appreciate it! Opening the headlight doesn't seem to hard

  14. This is how the projector looks like my8aqu4e.jpg

And here in between the lens and the bulb you can see the shield that needs to be flipped (around vertical axis) as the lens mirrors the image down on the road. ase6yves.jpg

And here is how the light is reflected in the projector for better understanding  asebe2ud.jpg

  15. Mate, you're worth your weight in gold! This saves me a shitload of money i hope! I'll take the projector's apart next week and let you know the outcome, thanks again for the super support!

  16. Your welcome

  17. Have you made this happen ?

  18. Hey Milos! Not yet, in the meanwhile i found a set of Xenon's here in the Netherlands with the mounting points of the lenses broken off. So now i will swap just the lenses to the UK headlamps so that's great news. As i've read everywhere different experiences wether there are 1 or 2 leveling sensors i contacted Ads and he confirmed there should be 2! One on a lower arm and one on the rear axle. The scrap 225 my mate bought in the UK doesn't have any of these on it so i need to order these first, we think the Xenon's on this car were also fitted afterwards.
When i've got the time to fit these i'll update my car blog, also have bought new fog lights, complete R26.R gear gaiter and knob, 630cc injectors and calipers waiting for refurb just hadn't had some spare time to get everything fitted! :worried:

  19. That is some nice progress, time will come,

  20. Well after a busy period i decided this week to have a closer look at the parts i collected. Then i found out the loom for the xenon's wasn't complete, so this week i'm gonna order the loom and the 2 leveling sensors, so hopefully all can be fitted within the next week or so, i've already exchanged the lenses from the RHD headlights to the LHD headlights, bit of a hassle but do-able

  21. well get on with it chop chop!!!!!!

  22. Adam, it isn't said enough, but you're a star
Now hurry up and send me the stuff for free lol

  23. lol such as????

  24. Leveling sensors and loom, currently my wallet is made out of onion leather, as soon as i open it i start crying lol

  25. pmsl!!!

    not heard that one before!

  26. Finally i can update this!

    0054a08a1faf6b0f352bc4bf959e4c31.jpg

So the xenon's are fitted and the front leveling sensor is also fitted! Now i'm only waiting for the rear sensor loom which should arrive somewhere next week so i can finally finish the conversion! Happy chap now

  27. How much were the sensors, do you have then both fitted? Have you activated the "xenon" brain boxes and auto leveling? How is it working without the rear sensor

I really need to get me some sensors I run mine without

  29. I've fitted both the sensors and i didn't had them activated as they seem to work! (Sorry i didn't let you know in this topic but i recently updated it in my project section)

They where €180,- i believen and another €60,- for the extension loom from under the backseat of the car to the rear axle

  30. Haha no way Im going to pay that money for them  ill stay with manual adjusment then

Ps do the lights raise at 30km/h aprox?
If not then the activation would be beneficial

I don't see the point in fitting the levellers personally. They work perfectly fine without.

  32. With levelers you are able to fine tune the hight of the headlights and not only on 5 steps from the little switch. As if the xenons are up in the sky they will blind the oncomming trafic..

Can the HID height be adjusted with the little switch at all in the cabin or if the sensors are not fitted there is no way to control the height apart from manually adjusting on the headlights it self ?

  33. Daz

    Daz

I set mine as per mot guide lines, granted there is no in car adjustment but I never ever altered the height to cater for passengers or loads, and I'd wager 90% of other drivers never do either!

Mind you 90% of the time it's only me anyway.

I'm usually the first to do things like this properly but there doesn't seem to be much gain for a large outlay in my opinion.

  35. True

  36. Never had a look if they do that, if they don't i'll ask my local mechanic to activate them
