  1. Tyres poll, for evey day driving and the odd blast here and there

  2. Please add any tyres to the comments and I will update the poll

  3. That's right. You have to add more, I.e 050a, PSS, etc

  4. Yokahama Advan 105 might be a good addition. It's totally under the radar despite the (usefully) stiff sidewalls compared to the Michelin's

  9. 050A

  10. You mean Firenze st-05a?

  11. Brdgestone RE I suspect

  12. D
Do they have any benefit against their replacement the PS4 ? They are more expensive AFAIK.

  13. of those in poll, easy win for PS4, followed closely by PSS, rest are also ran

  14. Tried most and PSS are second to none for daily use on fast road.

  15. ADo8R`s are pretty awesome..i have several mates with high powered machines that run these.Held up very well at the ring

    Yokohama AD08R.

Perfect tyre for fast road and trackday use. I use my R26 daily and they've been great in the wet as well.

  18. How many miles you done on them?

I'll have to work it out but rears have been on for at least 15k and they had been on the front for at least half of that mileage.

  20. I'm running continental sport contact 6s from a civic type R fk2.

  21. reading Michelins press release, the PS4 is the replacement for the PSS,so hopefully even better.
I have 2 PS4`s sitting in my garage ready to go on..will be interesting to see how they compare to the PSS.

  22. There will be a proper replacement for PSS. PS4 replaces PS2. I haven't seen the press release though, where is it ?

  23. The PS was split up into the PS2 and the PSS... seems they have now combined them back together in the PS4.

(PS3 was a replacement for the Pilot Exalto 2)

  24. EVO summer tyre test 2016 out in latest mag now; Conti 6 best all round tyre. Conti 5 won last year as well.

  25. I went with PS2 simply as I buy the Porsche fitment ones and it's less than £400 a set, from memory the PSS or PS4's are around £550 a set and as I only use that tyre for fast road it's more than suitable.

  26. Ps4, really good for a daily,

  27. Cup 2

  28. michelin = soft sidewalls.

Bridgestones 050A or even yokos V105 / vredestein vorti's , if you want a really sharp car on the road

  29. This is my view too, not to mention easily overheated outside shoulders when using a lot of Gs, although this might not be such an issue on the road.

  30. Federal 595RSR's here. Surprisingly acceptable in the wet (as long as they have reasonable tread) and awesome in the dry. As I use my r26 mostly for ring work, these are ideal as they don't get as hot as on a traditional trackday.

  31. I've got Federals on my track wheels, superb in the dry.

I cacked myself driving home from the Ring a couple of weeks ago, left the Federals on and just after leaving there was the most almighty downpour.

I gradually got the nerve up to build some speed instead of dicing with the caravans and artics on the inside lane.
    They were surprisingly good :-).

I use Conti 5 on my road wheels and they are very grippy, and give you complete confidence in the wet. They're underrated by Petrol heads, but the Evo tyre test proves them to be an "EVO" tyre.

  32. I have contisport contact 6 on my megane, and they're great. There was so many versions of the CSC 5 that it was getting confusing!

  33. How about the road noise comparison, or its not a point for anybody? For me, Dunlop tyres are making really loud road noise compared to Kumho tyres, and i feel that it is very important for a road car to drive everyday, especially with Megane as the noise insulation is poor anyway.

  34. If I were looking for new road-only rubber, my choice would also be Conti SportContact 6.

  35. I've had it confirmed to me by Michelin that the updated PSS is due for release Q1 2017 and that the PS4 is not the replacement for the PSS, but is the true successor the PS3 applying knowledge gained from developing the PSS and the Formula E tyres. It sits alongside the PSS like a brother but not above it. The 'new' PSS will still sit above PS3/PS4 and below Cup 2's.

Was talking to the head of development from Michelin and their boss of Motorsport the other Saturday. Interesting to see what they said and what some of the views on here are.
