This is a question I have been struggling with for years as it seemed impossible to find the weight of different tyres. However as it happened a thread on PH mentioned the spec sections on Tirerack.com and sure enough if one clicks on the presented table they list measured weights for the tyres they sell in the US. To save you all some time I have listed below the weights of various tyres in the sizes specs I have been interested in:

    Toyo R888 - 225x40-18 92 = 23 lb
    235x40-18 91 = 25 lb
    225x45-18 94 XL = 24 lb
    245x45-16 = 23 lb
    225x50-16 = 24 lb
    225x45-16 = 22 lb

    R1-R 225x45-17 91 = 23 lb

    P Trofeo R - 225x45-17 91 = 21 lb
    225x50-16 92 = 21 lb
    245x45-16 94 = 23 lb
    235x40-18 95 = 22 lb

    PS Cup 2 225x40-18 92 = 20 lb
    235x40-18 95 = 21 lb

    PS2 235x40-18 95 = 22 lb
    225x45-17 91 = 22 lb (N3 Porsche)

I would have added DZ03g but they don't sell em so don't list them. Its interesting however that in general the 17" tyres are no heavier than the 18" compatible versions so it answered the question I was asking myself which is would going to a 17" wheel result in a lighter overall package. The 16" tyres are all size variations I have run on my race car, the Trofeo R for example being the control tyre for Ferrari Classic and Porsche Club class 3.

    Cheers

  2. Nice 1 mate - very interesting info

Be interesting to see how the R888-R stacks up, hopefully with it being newly released we might be able to find out as well

  3. One thing I do notice is how much lighter my wheels are with slicks fitted .. I'll have to bob one on the scales to see how light it is

My Brother has 4 DZ03G's in his garage to so I'm sure he will weigh one of them

Thanks John that would be great info to add into the mix.

I have run DZ03g myself and the two garages that worked on my Porsche swear by them, they do seem fairly light from memory and have a construction much more like a race tyre than a road tyre. I don't really know why race tyres are lighter, they may have less tread to them but they also have a super stiff carcass and sidewall.
