I know that there are many of you who already did this successfully but for all others i think that this tutorial can be very helpful. This tutorial is based on megane mk3 rs but besides different removing headlights units from the particular car it is pretty much the same for all other cars. I am sorry in advance for some gramar mistakes, but please let me know so i can edit them, thanks STEP 1: - Headlights disassemble pretty quickly and it is easy to take them out (dont need to remove front bumper like on megane 2). There are two M10 bolts (number 1 on picture) on each side and you have to pull out collet (number 3 on picture). Both upper bolts on mine snapped so be careful. You can slide them out for 10-15cm (number 2 on picture) and disconnect three connectors so you can remove them completely, picture: STEP 2: - After that it is time for open them up, there are two ways of doing this, one is with oven and another one is with heat gun, i used heat gun so this tutorial will be concentrating on that. You have to be really patient and heat them on lower temperature so you dont heat plastics or anything of the headlight unit that it melts, be really careful! Mine heat gun have 6 stages of heating and it was set on 2 all the time and it took us around 10-15minutes for each headlight: STEP 3: - First remove 5 metal pins that hold glass and headlight together and then start opening it from lower right corner because in upper left corner front glass is slided in so it is easier to pull it out when you split that part first. It is good to have someone to help you because someone will have to heat edges as you spliting the headlight and also it is good to do one side for few centimeters and the other until you get till that upper left corner and then just heat that up and slide glass off: STEP 4: - I didnt remove original seal because it is good to use it again, of course that best will be to clean it up and use new one (butyl rubber sealant) but this works also and you can heat it up so you can spread it accordingly with some flat screwdriver. STEP5: - To remove trims from glass, there is one bolt and two pins that hold it in the place, just unscrew it and it will pop out. I didnt disassemble all the hardware from the headlights, but you can if you want, i just taped everything out and protect the projector (skip this step if you are painting just trims) STEP 6: - Painting - this is really up to you as you would like to spray your headlight but i did all the trims that were original anthracite gray to black and also did chrome housing of projector beam black. I sprayed two thin coats of plastic primer with 15minutes between and three coats of black with 10minutes between. let it dry for two hours and you are ready to assemble and reasealing headlights. STEP 7: - You have to heat all the seal again and give it a time because it is really important to heat it up good (as i said earlier dont rush it with higher temperature or speed on the heat gun), if there are any spots without seal just use some screwdriver to spread it across the edge as i did: STEP 8: - you start opposite with putting glass back in place (clean and polish it from the inside if you wish before that and also dry it with heat gun) from upper corner where you slide it in and going to lower corner and it is good that someone is heating edges as you pressing it together and dont forget to put metal clips in place (5 piece each side). Finished headlights, i hope that it will help you and just ask if something is not clear I am not responsible for any damage if you try this yourself with your headlights! good luck!
