Turn in Oversteer

  1. Very, very pleased my new Meggy can do this....

Hoping to be able to do this slightly less badly with practice

  2. How on earth do you get it to oversteer so much??!

  3. Lol a lack of talent, inability to drive properly and years of getting into bad habits!

Hehe, it's just using the brakes when turning and trying to feel where the weight is... The meggy is a pretty good car in this respect

Lol. Brilliant. Much more entertaining than 90% of track day videos. Great thing for you though is now you Know you can catch the car it, will give you the confidence that you have the skills to really explore the cars limits. In my R26 the back will get loose with only a tiny trail of the brakes but it will also do it just by being really aggressive with the steering on a late turn in and then getting on the power early.

  5. Thank you! Yeah it's fun finding the limits... Then exceeding them... If you don't spin, you're not tying hard enough lol!
The turn in on these cars seems excellent compared to all the cars I've driven, it does feel like it'll go sideways just with aggressive steering like you say

  6. What state were your tyres in afterwards?!

  7. Not in such a happy one!

Was maybe a little close to the wire on the drive home, haven't used it since...

Got some new shoes coming for it on Tuesday - the contiforcecontact (continentals track tyre) which I'm really hoping will be similar to Michelin cup..

    Very excited

  8. That's the beauty of Bedford, so much space.
So.much for front wheel drive understeering and needing a lift, apparently. A lift will actually make the rear slide, but a decent pedaler doesn't need to lift, particularly not when the car pivotes so well and so progressively on turn-in, as brilliantly demonstrated in this video. Thx for sharing.

  9. Aww you made me blush!!

Very kind words - thank you

Like you say they're really good pivoting - fantastic turn in.

Bedford is such a great track, they were also running the how fast event which is probably the cheapest competitive Motorsport that there is at £99. Intend to have a go at this in the Renault at some point.

Giving that it seems you don't need an MSA licence to do it definitely. Sprint and hillclimb fees often seem to be about that pricing level but of course you need to get an MSA Nat B non-race really.

  11. Absolutely, also no need for safety gear which is expensive.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Register has a whole calendar of sprints too, something I'm sure our Rebaults could be part of if there were enough interested folk. It's about £130 a time.

There's also the javelin sprint days which are great.

None of the above require a racing licence
