TRW JAR971 Inner Tie Rods - Short ?

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by DrewG, Feb 2, 2017.

  1. Hi Guys

Just had new tie rods, track rods and link installed on my PH2 225 today...

Mechanic commented that he had to wind the above right out to track it up properly and suspected only about 5 threads into the rod end...

is this usual on the TRW rods ? Anyone had the same issues ? Parts were ordered from Mr Auto using the Reg number etc.

    TIA
    Drew

  2. You have the rack ends for the cooking models. The r26/225 type are genuine dealer only. If you gave them your reg for the lower arm they will also give you the wrong ones as the ball joint is different & there is no hole for the anti twist link.

  3. Thanks Lee... didn't do a lower arm fortuneatly.. they ok until I can get the Renault ones ordered up ?

Said they'd locked in ok just wasnt "happy" with the depth of the thread....

  4. And do you have the part number to hand ?

    Cheers
    Drew

  5. I don't mate, I changed the ones on my old 225 cup. Is there not a how to section covering it.

  6. I'll do some more digging mate... so is the track rod ends that are wrong or the Tie rods ?

  7. It's the rack ends not the track rod ends that are wrong. The ones you have will be 230mm long & the ones you need are 250mm long.
    Part numbers are
    Left 7701474795
    Right 7701474796

  10. Anyone got a view on whether I should be driving it ? :coldsweat:

  11. Just bought 2 myself. £89 from Renault parts direct. I personally wouldn't be going flat out with only 5 threads.

  12. Been driving like a granny for 3 weeks with 2 broken springs (which actually turned into all 4 ! ) - Lol

They've been done today too, so can stay in granny mode for a few more days.. mechanic has said he'll do them for me as soon as I've got them..

Paul from RPD confirming all ok tomorrow and I'll get them ordered up straight away.. 7 mile trip to work so not a load of driving and dont need to use it over the weekend..
