Track rod end life expectancy

  1. As above. Fitted some from Euro 12k miles ago (8months) and I've got play in my steering that feels like TREs.

Changed the inner track rod joints (TRW) and steering bush but the play is getting worse.

The euro parts were some pattern crap. Just wandered how long these ends were lasting on the Meg RS'?

  2. I fitted a couple of ling long China special ones (which he supplied) to a mates R26 and they didn't even last 10months. The OE ones might be expensive but you don't need to buy 3 sets of them to last the same time.

  3. OEM are 12 months warranty if I remember.

  4. Yeah I think most parts from them have the 12 month warranty.

  5. I was about to say (before reading above) if you buy cheap ECP garbage about 5 minutes but I guess you already know that now. Personally I'd buy TRW parts as they are an OE manufacturer of 1000's of parts and available in the after market.

  6. I guess so.

I remember fitting a "fast line" pattern part to a Saab which had failed on a track rod joint at MOT time. They failed it again on retest saying that new joint was as bad! So I'm not airports by your comments.

I can get trw ones for £18

  7. If you're anywhere near Herts I can get you a pair for £20.42.

  8. Glasgow?

Although I ordered two last night. Can cancel them though if you can sort something out?

  9. Mister auto are pretty cheap for TRW parts.

  10. Yes they are but I've had a 50% success rate with them.

Ordered parts from them in the past only to be told they've not actually got them (after paying) and had to chase refund for two weeks.

They are good when they are good but I've lost faith and don't fancy giving them the business to save £2 on a part. Normally takes a week or so for parts anyway as most are kept in Lyon.

  11. Sorry for the late reply... I can sort it but only working tomorrow and not back until 4th Jan.

  12. Missed this and parts due in NYE so guess it's not to be. Thanks though, could have saved myself £18

  13. Hmm.

Seems to be the inner joint on the drivers side.

Again bought and fitted them less than 12k ago and they were OE
