Track day insurance

Discussion in 'Track Days & Track Driving' started by Speedy300, Sep 7, 2016.

  1. Who gets track day insurance?

    How much and who from?

Any decent insurers who include track day cover?

I currently run a Clio 182 and 'risk it' on track as its only worth £2k, however, I am looking to buy a Megane R26 shortly and is likely to be £5k+ which is a lot to lose if the worse happened...

  2. Greenlight will insure you on trackdays in this country for £40 per day, or Morris if you go to Spa etc, pretty sure no one will cover you at the ring

  3. Ring insurance is available for track days there. The one you can't find is third party on a TF day. But a lot of people don't realise they're not covered ultimately.

  4. Typically you end up paying around 1% of the value of the car for the insurance, plus a compulsory excess

So a £5k car would be around £50 for a day, plus whatever the excess is

moris are as good as any, and cover ATDO organised track days at the 'ring. The 'ring tends to have a bit of a premium over a normal day, as you'd expect

  5. Thanks for the replies.

I will give Greenlight a call! I doubt I will be taking the car to the Ring so insurance for that track/road (or whatever it is) isn't an issue.
