Touch up process- light scratch removal

Discussion in 'Detailing' started by AJ-275, Jul 21, 2015.

  1. So I had an extremely annoying stone chip on my bonnet. On the bumper I can cope with but the bonnet really annoys me.

I got a touch up and followed the process which had a little pad to level the paint. It was nice and soft, so I was surprised when I caught it in the light and it has made the area around the touch up very dull. I used my iphone light up against it and it has indeed scratched the area and dulled the paint to the point where if you catch it at the right angle you can clearly see a difference in the paint. Probably looking at the size of half a thumb nail in size.

What is the best product and method to get this back to a close to normal as possible finish? I tried to get a picture but it's hard to catch on a camera.

    Cheers
    Alex

  2. The best, and only solution, is get a pro to do it. I have the same issue, but from experience, I have never found a product that makes me feel confident to try myself or is able to sort if there are problems afterwards. There are plenty of people that will come to you and colour match to the stage that it is never noticeable. Worth shopping around, too.

  3. As mentioned, always best to get a pro to do it if possible.

I have seen this used to good effect on the bonnet of a 911, not used it myself though http://www.drcolourchip.co.uk

  4. I used Fareclaz G3 scratch remover on light scratches and it work a treat, scratches are gone paint is restored and no filler inside so only takes light scratches off brilliant product.
