  1. Hi

what causes no grip on a 225?, is it the rack ends that need to be replaced?, it seems to have no grip on boost at all.

    help

  2. I dont know about grip but ny r26 pulled all over the road before i replaced my tie rods or rack ends whatecer you wanna call them

  3. Tyres?

  4. I think it is a rack end at fault, going in for mot Tuesday so it may well show up then, I'm on Dunlop sport maxx tyres with loads left on them so think they are ok, timed it on gps doing 6.11 to 60 but was all over the place doing it lol.

  5. It was an advisory on the mot when i bought the car that the previous owner hadnt fixed resulting in poor hanfling and badly worn tyres so i sorted it straight out car was completely diffeent adterwards

  6. I have a feeling mine could do with some rack ends. How much does this cost?

  7. It'll be the hub bearings

  8. Can't remember exactly but it was nothing compared to how much better the car drove afterwards

  9. hubs are new, rack ends are £45 ish a side, got a derv megane now so I'll be taking it off the road to sort it and maybe track prep it.

  10. Whats the "inner track rod kit", do I need that too?
What do people think of the Lemforder track rod ends? They're about half the cost of the Renault ones which may well be made by them anyway.

I was thinking of doing this myself. Easy enough on a driveway?

  11. Oh and are they all the same across the Megane range?

  12. No, they're only specific Renault items, aftermarket don't fit even if your reg is given so don't be fooled by this, you'll have the car in bits only to find it's the wrong part!, they aren't a bad job to do providing you have the right tools.did mine on the drive

  13. I've just done the track rod ends on my 225 last week, took 15 mins per side, changed the droplinks at the same time. 15mm nut on end of track rod, and 22mm spanner to undo it from the rack. Please note if you don't get it on exactly how it came off then you'll need to get the tracking done. And for a pair of track rod ends and a pair of droplinks it was under £20 from euro car parts.

  14. Conflicting info here!
So the Lemforder (from ECP) tie rod ends do fit? I never was the inner ones there, they were at Renault.

  15. Couldn't tell you the manufacturer sorry, but ECP definitely sold me the right ones for my '54' 225.

  16. How much were the rack ends?, the inner ones, if they're available aftermarket now I'm sure all the members on here would like to know, Reno want 42ish a side for these.

  17. I didn't see the inner ones on ECP.
pimms I take it you just changed the outer ones?

  18. Oh my bad, yes it was the outers I changed. Couldn't give you a specific price as I got them trade price through a friend. Like I say though, the 2 ends and 2 droplinks were under £20 the lot. Sorry for the confusion, been a long day

  19. I'd recommend doing inner and outer at the same time. When I did my refresh earlier in the year I got the job lot done. Speak to Adam at Renault Wolverhampton mate he''ll sort you out for parts and prices.
