Looking at having the trophy mapped at some point with a decat that I'm in on a group buy and have been reading up on upgraded intercoolers (pro alloy) just wondering if I need to bother or am I just lashing money on the car for no reason ? Also just got my hands on a second hand dump valve just purely for the noise but again do they make any difference to a mapped car ?? My thinking is lower intake temps should be kinder on the engine ? Thoughts ? Cheers
Definitely. Air intake temps on them run quite high. So your engine will thank you with longer life with an IC. Plus you'll have your max power also on longer runs (in warm weather).
I agree it's quite air intake temp restricted on track, particularly in the summer. For the road on the other hand, it's a moot point IMO.
Depends on how the car is used in the road? Regular long high speed runs (i.e. Autobahn), lots of spirited drives uphill in the mountains. I agree that it'd be rare to see it being an issue on U.K. Public road, but intake temps on mapped Meganes are quite absurd already after a few bursts of power (without hitting Autobahn speeds). I personally wouldn't run a Meg remapped without an IC.
