175 DCI timing chain cover gasket

  1. Hi,

i am about to change my timing chain and want to know if there is a replacement for the above mentioned or is it just silicone tube of sealant and some elbow grease?

  2. If it was my engine, I would go the silicone route. Can't go wrong.

Why do you change timing chain?

  3. timing chain is rattly & noisy and engine does not start very well when cold, also the engine is not very happy looks like a misfire if you know what i mean,
so am hoping a new timing chain will fix the later

How many miles has it done ??? my 175 dci Grande Espace has 160K on the clock and on the same chain.
I took the head off of my Megane Dci and put the cover back on with a good quality gasket making sealer.

  5. Mines done 150k and chain seems good.

    Maybe it's something else?

  6. thanks for your replies, found that there is no gasket / seal sold by Renault, just used some Wynns gasket maker as Renault mentioned.
    Many thanks
