Timing and accessory belt in Surrey

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by James and his 250, Mar 11, 2016.

  1. Hi all,

I was going to take my megane 250 to Renault for the timing and aux/acc belt as I was told it would cost £599, I have called today to book it in and it's now £699 which is just too much extra to pay for main dealer over an independent garage. Has anyone had this done around Surrey that they could recommend? Going to use whocanfixmycar for quote's but I would like a Renault Specialist to do it at least

    Thanks,
    James

(Renault wanted £374.16 for the timing belt and £232.10 for the acc. belt?!?!?!) The labour is supposed to be the expensive bit, he even said so himself before I asked for the price for the parts. Caught himself out what a joke the stealers are

  2. Anyone?
Otherwise I will call further afield at Rentech and K-Tec

  3. I'd be asking for a price for a cam belt kit fitted and a price for cam belt kit and aux belt as the aux belt is removed to do the cam belt so there's no extra labour involved to fit a new or old aux belt back.

I had the aux tensioner, water pump and dephaser pulley done on mine just for "piece of mind" whilst having the cam belt kit done.

  4. K-Tec will do the cam belt, aux belt AND water pump for £499, with a courtesy car for free! So I'm going to be dropping it off on a Saturday and try and get off work early in the week to collect it.
That's 200 less than Renaults fixed price and includes the water pump change too. Still waiting for Rentech's price have left a message on their answerphone

  5. I bought my car from KTec and would've taken it there if it wasn't such a trek down.

  6. K-Tec have some lovely cars for sale
All done and collected now, would recommend but hoping they send me out some of the millers coolant they use because its dropped below the minimum and I had the type D in there which is green.
The courtesy car was a lovely clio 182 with a loud exhaust and possibly coilovers. I was expecting a 1.4 clio or something lol

  7. Just one last update to say they got the coolant to me for next day delivery free of charge.
Would recommend these guys for everyone with a megane due its cambelt service
