R26 Thermostat

Discussion in 'Mechanical - Engine, Gearbox, Exhaust etc' started by Nunez20, Apr 21, 2016.

  1. Bearing in mind I have 0 mechanical ability is it something I should tackle? Will I need to top anything up after? water? coolant?

  2. Make sure car is cold, remove 3x8mm thermostat bolts, lower one is a bit fiddly, remove thermostat, you will loose some coolant, put new thermostat in, ensure seal is seated correctly and will not be crushed, replace 3x8mm bolts, fill coolant up (renault type d £14 for 5L), remove 8mm thermostat bleed bolt, wait till coolant is coming out and no more air, replace bolt. Done
