Car was at rs tuning today for a map and 630cc injectors, it made some good numbers, finished at 287.8 BHP and capped the torque similar to stay in a safe limit, the car is a total different animal now and great to drive, would recommend it to anyone! Next up will be some tyres, some suspensions changes and then I'll probably forge it! Thanks for reading Regards KT
It will get forged if I decide to go big turbo or hybrid and run a fuel system to aim for some big power, that's only a consideration, at the moment it's great!
Cheers buddy So my suspension turned up yesterday, hopefully I'll get it on this weekend setup and on the comer scales then adjust the geometry to suit.
Suspension on but looks like the dampening adjuster extenders are the Wrong ones so need to get the correct ones ordered up And new tyres turned up 4x 235/40/18 95 Y Michelin pilot super sports Regards KT
Nice write up ,keep it coming. Apparently only some early Meganes had a battery cover . What does the car ride like with the coilovers ,I have Eibach Pro springs on mine which give a fairly smooth ride on the road .
You get eibachs as standard on the r26 but (from memory) the spring rates are much firmer on the standard r26 compared to the aftermarket ones you can buy Sent from my HTC Desire EYE using Tapatalk
Oh right! That's interesting! The ride is quite hard but my son still sleeps in it which is a tad surprising!
Thanks mate Hi buddy, it's a standard renault battery cover yes, because of the Itg intake the fit is compromised slightly so requires a bit of trimming and cable tie Cheers buddy Not much happening to the car this week, ordered a new nilfisk jetwash and some new snow foam to try, will try give the car a good detail when I get chance
20% stiffer than normal non cup/ r26 suspension possibly (I don't have the spring rates for those) but definately not stiffer than normal r26/ cup springs. I've just checked my data and the pro kits are around 50% softer than the standard suspension. Although the pro kit are linear springs not progressive like the standard suspension - the data I have doesn't specify if the value of 7.46kg/mm (front) and 6.62kg/mm (rear), is average or where the spring is at its strongest/ weakest point etc. But compared to 3.7 and 3.0kg per mm they are notably softer Sent from my HTC Desire EYE using Tapatalk
That's strange the ones I have fitted feel much stiffer than the standard ones as can be felt on the road and less body roll on track . Ktec where I bought them from gave me the 20% stiffer figure and my sons standard R26 was much softer and rode higher. The windings are are different on the standard R26 Eibachs(R 26's have Eibachs fitted as standard ) my sons one had a set of brand new springs bought from Renault and they are branded Eibach. So now I'm totally confused.
Doesn't the higher figure indicate a stiffer spring ? So it means the amount of force needed to move the spring . The drop is advertised as a 1.0" front and rear, although my 2013 FR-S was only lowered 7/8" evenly at all four corners. That is close to an inch, but with the car riding so high to start off with I wish that the error would have been in the other direction. The new look simply removes the unsightly wheel gap that plagues the Scion. The front spring rate is increased by 56% (3.6kg/mm vs 2.7kg/mm stock) and the rear by 29% (4.9kg/mm vs 3.8kg/mm stock) and although this sounds a little extreme, some coilover kits have four times the stiffness of the stock springs.
Yeah, yours are linear so you'll have the same spring rate all the way. The standard ones are progressive so a lower spring rate to start with but ramp up in stiffness the more they are compressed. That's probably why yours feel stiff on the road, the less body roll on track will also be down to a lower centre of mass as well as being linear. I did say that I didn't know if the rates for the standard springs were average/ min/ mac etc so it's most likely when the spring is at its stiffest, although still it's bloody stiff compared to the pro's! Linear are generally regarded as being better for track and progressive a slight compromise for ride comfort and good handling, although interestingly a few of the coil over options have progressive on the front and linear on the back Sent from my HTC Desire EYE using Tapatalk
Yeah but linear and progressive springs work differently, a linear spring at 10kg/mm will compress by 1 mm per 10kg of weight, so put 1000kg on kg and it will compress by 100mm (on a graph it's a straight line). Progressive springs work by having a softer spring rate to start which gets stiffer, normally one end of the spring is wound tighter than the other end with the more tightly wound end being the softer part of the spring. As the spring is compressed, the soft coils on the tightly wound side will collapse, coming*into contact with each other. When this happens, the rest of the spring starts to compress at the second higher rate (so it will be a curve of some sort on a graph). Sent from my HTC Desire EYE using Tapatalk
So my tpi wheel bolts arrived to suit my pms front 5mm spacers and normal length bolts for the rear for my eibach spacers, I opted for the black series and got a set of locking bolts for each too! New dampening adjusters are here so will fit them this weekend. Oh and a tip for anyone reading and also wanting to clean there seatbelts, vanish oxy and a jetwash work great! Regards KT
Haven't really done much to the car lately apart from enjoy it, I'm installed the bonnet strut conversion this week and am in the process of collecting bits for the Xeon conversion A few recent pictures Regards KT
Hey guys, me and a few friends have made a YouTube channel and a few pages covering build threads, reviews, track days and plenty more. You will see how my megane progresses too, here's a link to our trailer Check it out if you get chance! Regards KT
So a fair bit has been going on with the car lately, the front bumper was painted and blown is as there was a crack in it, the wing mirrors were painted liquid yellow too Along with some interior pieces painted gloss black too The channel I help run also held our first meet, you can follow the link I posted earlier to our YouTube channel or I'll post another shortly Regards KT
Looks well and nice spec, how much where the coilovers? How's it ride on the road compared to the cooksports? Debating some bc coilovers myself. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
Cheers buddy, they should come like that standard I think, I'm not sure why renault love leaving plastic so much. Cheers mate, the coilovers are around £750 I ordered rear adjuster extenders too Regards KT
