Car was in today for cambelt kit, dephaser, water pump, aux belt and tensioner... Usually I do EVETYTHING mevhanic myself but I really couldn't be bothered in the cold weather so for the 1st time in 24 years of driving I paid someone else to do it (broke my heart lol). Steve
If you can easily afford it, I say why do it yourself? It is a good feeling knowing it's done though.
I do all the easy to medium jobs myself not to save money but it's nice getting to know your car and is also great at relaxing you No kids wife and plenty of smokes and warm drinks I used to take my mk1 focus rs to Cheshire from East Yorkshire just for a service but since the megs value is dropping like a stone I just service it myself and what not now and I love it I need my cambelt done this year too don't know whether to take it rstuning or one of the others Did pm mark black but never replied to my pm
Probably because I couldn't always afford to pay someone else plus I've worked in the motor trade for ever and I guess I'm just tight lol
Exact same position here, mine is coming up to 70k, cambelt, water pump and tensioners arrived yesterday.
RS Motors in Bassingbourn (just outside Royston). No one will have heard of him on here, he's what I call an old school mechanic and 1 of my customers.
I supplied all the bits (below) and he charged me £200 Cambelt kit Water pump Aux belt and tensioner Dephaser Oil and filter Antifreeze mix Rear head seal thingies Steve
