When driving for work today I caught this rather nice OG megane RS 250 in the forecourt of a car dealership. Quick U turn was needed. Basically it's an 11 plate, has leather recaros, cup chassis, Xenons, 19" Steve alloys with 50k on the clock at £13.5k. Obvs it's a bit more expensive than my R26 but really wanting to know from people if it's worth making the trade. The mileage is a bit high if I'm honest and there only offering £4.5k trade in for mine. Are there any issues and problems with the 250 I should be aware of. Any input appreciated.
I have a 265 for a summer toy and a 225 for a daily. The mk2s a fantastic car but the mk3 definitely feels better put together and the interior is lovely. Although the 225 feels more chuckable and agile in the bends. 250s before 2011 have a cambelt pulley rattle which renault will fix for free, I can't think of any other serious issues.
No I haven't heard of many. Heard of water getting into the cabin but not much else. Plus the car is still under warranty from Reno.
Best part of 9k for the upgrade matey, that's a hell of a lot of money. 250s are nice, but so is the R26 :-)
Look out for knocking from the front and wandering on hard acceleration !!! We are seeing more 250/265's that require front hub's or bottom arm's at approx 25000 ml !!!!!!!
If it were your daily I'd be very tempted, the better interior is worth that to me. Make sure you test drive it though, I find rear view terrible. Even with the standard parking sensors it can still be a PITA to safely park on tight spaces.
50k miles on an 11 plate!? Good effort there. Seems alittle high priced considering the mileage, maybe shop around?
Now my starry eyes have calmed down a bit I think your right, the spec is perfect tho reckon ill kick myself if I don't look around for a 265
Yeah seen than renault sport are doing an offer on the new 265 for £265 per month. Just with a huge deposit and even bigger final payment. Plus not a fan of the new facelift model...yet
That's a good deal depending on mileage and duration (I assume 4yrs to match the 4+). The new Clio 200T isn't far off that and I know which car Id rather be driving.
That's not a brilliant price, particularly considering the low trade in. Ross and myself both bought 250's in the same spec with similar mileage to that for less. What age/miles is your R26? Should really aim for 12.5k for the 250. I came from an r26, but my cost to change was 4k!
Its got 59.5k miles on it and similar R26s on autotrader are going for £6.5-7 grand but that's a private sell. I did some more digging and turns out a mate of mine bought his carrera 4S from the same garage. He said the cars are all over priced and the trade ins are poor and that the garage are pure blaggers. Which kind of ties up with my initial feel when they told me the 250 had new discs and pads all round. When I felt them they had a lip on the edge, not really new is it! ill look around more if 11-12k is the more appropriate price for a250 of this mileage/ age
Its over 4 years but doesn't state mileage, assume its 10k p.a. 7k deposit tho and 8.5k final payment :-/ plus all this is before you start with options and If you want the red rimmed 19" steev alloys and LY paint- £2,300 extra
That sounds worse! Giving £7k away, and the car won't be worth more than about £11k in 4 years! If it's any help, there are 250 bargains out there. Mine was £10k with only brakes/tyres needed.
