Hi, I just noticed yesterday, my temp need seems to be moving between dead centre, and just to the marker left of dead centre. Mine has always remained dead centre once up to temperature. Any ideas why this is happening? Is it cause for concern?
Weird, im having the same issu with mine, its just moving in random times. I think its just something with the gauge electronics. Sent from my SM-A300F using Tapatalk
Is there any way to confirm that theory or ensure it is nothing mechanical? Or should I ignore it and drive on lol....?
As it seems impossible that the coolant temperature can move up and down that way, it have to be just the issue with the gauge electronics. Im not worring about it at all.
Not sudden, moves slighty up, then back down, then back up and so on....Just started doing it yesterday. It drops and rises when it motion, does not seem to matter.
Tried bleeding it? Could be the thermostat on its way out, not opening and closing gradually as it should.
My gauge makes more like a sudden jolt, static moving up/down fast, so it can be some different issue with yours.
Car was serviced by Renault 2 weeks ago 36k miles, coolant level in overflow is spot on. Is access to the radiator restricted by the bumper?
Every car I've ever owned has needed one at some point. I remember changing one on a caddy van, when I took it out of the housing it pretty much disintegrated in my hand.
Mine does it but on the other side. Ie fluctuates between dead centre and the hotter side of the centre section. Never bothered me. If it goes into the red section I'll get worried.
Thermostats are very common mate. Mine was on its way out a few weeks back and changed it myself. I posted a 'how to' guide on here somewhere if you end up giving it a go
Oh, where did you post it? Would like to give it a go myself for the sake of the price of a thermostat, probably cost me more driving to and from the dealer to have it done under warranty lol
Renault parts direct are about £30, I don't know how comparable they are. You'll lose some coolant so that'll need topping up.
Yep result parts direct. I'll be honest thought mate, if my car was under warranty I'd take it straight in, quite a bit of faffing doing the thermostat. Depends if you can be bothered or not!
faulty thermostat! mine does this too recently and i'm not uncertain the thermostat is the reason why it does this
