Swirl & Light Clear coat scratch removal on BG ....?

  1. Evening Gents

Car looks good for its age until under strip lighting.. where you can really see the swirls and light scratching. Thought I'd have a go myself..

Had a go at the tailgate and rear bumper this evening with Meguire's Ultimate Compound and TBH although there's a small improvement, was hoping to get a better result...

Is the clear coat especially tough on the Megs ? Or is this simply a product issue ?! I've also got a bottle of G3 but have seen articles warning to give it a wide birth ! A bit too aggressive ?

Using a Meguire's compounding pad on a Meg's drill attachment DA..

New to this machine polishing malarky, any help appreciated !

    Cheers
    Drew

  2. Best thing to do is use megs 205 followed by 105 with a cutting pad followed by finishing pad, risky with a drill too as you can easily overheat the paint and burn the lacquer which will require a respray, better off with a da polisher. Check out detailing world. Co. UK you'll find all the advice you need on there.

  3. Cheers bud... it's a Meguire's DA Drill attachment... so in theory (!!!!!) no risk of overheat.. came with cutting, polishing and a wax pad..

  4. Megs 105 and 205 worked very well for me on my 250, using orange and white Chemical Guys Hexlogic pads. I've also used Ultimate Compound on an orange hexlogic pad with very good results, works well as a single step polish I think.

Personally, I wouldn't use the DA Drill Attachment, especially when you can get a DA for £84.95.
