Sudden loss of clutch. Not slave cylinder!!

  1. Hi all,

I recently ran into an issue with my rs250 in which the clutch suddenly dipped to the floor to the point I couldn't get it into gear. First thing I did was look on the forum to see what it could be.

Looked like it was the slave cylinder. Which means gearbox off and possibly a new clutch and flywheel if the flywheel has come loose and knocked the slave cylinder out. This looked like it would cost approx £1200.

However, the helpful guys at Midlands Renault Specialist recommended to check the anti roll bar on the passenger side for any blistering of the paint, to which there was loads. This means the clutch damper line has perished and needed replacing with a braided one, £140 all in.

If your clutch has dipped and you are thinking the worst, check for this issue, it's might not be as bad you you initially think.
