250 subwoofer install

  1. Hi all, I'm looking at fitting a sub in my 250 to improve the crummy standard system, I don't want a bad boy chavvy drum and bass set up nor do I want to give up boot space so I've gone for a pioneer TS-wx610a spare wheel well unit

I don't really want to rip the dashboard to bits so I was thinking hook it up off the rear speakers and should be relatively simple.

Has any one done this previously? How tricky is the rear speaker wiring to get to? It looks like there is a torx screw in the door surround then the panel is probably just clipped in or am I missing something?

Also I noticed the dash front tweeter spaces are empty but there looks to be connection for tweeters? Can I just plug em in and they'll work? Seems too easy!

    Thanks in advance

  2. I had mine done by an audio place by me, cost £80 i think, worth it for the hassle!

  3. Let me know how you get on if you do it yourself and let me know what set up you went for. I to am into my music but don't want the chavy type sub

  4. Waiting for the sub to arrive before tackling the install

im going as stealth as possible so planning to tap into the rear 12v power outlet for switched live and also hide the sub controls inside the armrest centre storage thingy

Does anyone know if the rear facia of the console just clips on? I couldn't see any screws but I don't want to snap anything off in the process.

also there is a 4 pin plug taped down connected to nothing under the rear seat, my R26 has the same - any ideas what this is for?

    cheers

Are you still panning on hooking it up to the rear speakers?

  6. Yep, looks pretty easy. I've managed to prise the rear console off - needed a bit of force and leverage and it just pulls off exposing the 12v power connection to splice a supply from - much easier than pulling the dash apart

  7. It's done, took me about 2 hours so not too tricky.

the hardest bit was getting the wire through the bulkhead which needed the battery and air box to be unbolted. Also while access the rear speakers some of the plastic clips for the rear trim snapped which is annoying. If it rattles I'll go at it with the silicone

Difference in audio is incredible, Well worth the effort

  8. Not sure if you can tell the difference via an iPhone video but here goes, it packs quite a punch for such a small unit

  9. and here it is, just needs a ply board over it as the boot mat isn't rigid enough
