Stupid question...

  1. Ok I am a car noob...can anyone show me a pic or tell me where exactly to locate the spark plugs in my 265 engine bay? Thanks

Circled in red are the coil packs, you'll need to remove each coil park in turn and then remove the spark plug which sits underneath.

Without trying to sound patronising here, but if you don't know where your spark plugs are, are you sure you're confident working on your engine?

  3. Not at all...I'm not doing any work don't worry lol...car is in for 37.5k service tomorrow and I like to maybe mark certain items to ensure they actually get changed....trust issues lol...but have had bad experiences with this before.

  4. Just tell them you want the old spark plugs so you can inspect them.

  5. Good idea...also looking down there I can't see a way to mark them without removing them lol...

  6. You won't need to mark them, you'll be able to tell the difference between a new spark plug and one that has 37.5k miles on it.

Glad it's not booked in with my service dept, had many a run in with customers over service items, mostly oil filters. Even though date stamps on the filters are after their previous service etc....

  7. Also noticed while I had the coils out, what I can only describe as loose sort of dirt down in where the coils sit, is that normal or anything to worry about? Has maybe happened when I took the coils out?

    See pics;

  8. As mentioned, I have my reasons for not trusting certain dealers. Parts not being changed out that I was billed for etc.

  9. A friend of mine took a 3 year old Audi A3 to the main dealer after it failed the MOT for having the incorrect beam pattern on near side headlight (LHD unit in RHD car).

They said they would change it under warrenty, but he marked it up anyway. Long story short - they didn't change it.

  10. Had a VW golf fail an MOT quite a few years back at a dealer, pads are low so it failed. New they were talking shit, so took it somewhere else who said there low, but not a failure!

  11. You hear all sorts of horror stories, I used to have a glanza v toyota starlet, was really what got me into cars and spanners, but I had it serviced at a japanese specialist as it was an import, before I could do it myself. They never changed the filter the bastards

  12. @Eddie_ can I ask what dealership you work for?

  13. Got my old plugs anyway...

  16. No problem...

See that's the thing, it was the dealer you work for that didn't replace items they should have before on my 265...☺

Lots of grovelling and an offer to re service my car and video it being done and sent to me was offered, needless to say I turned it down and haven't been back.

Not directed at you...or having a go at you, just sharing my experience.
