Stud conversions & disc removal

Discussion in 'Suspension, Brakes, Wheels & Tyres section' started by Steve Rawlinson, Mar 2, 2020.

  1. I've bought a stud conversion kit from Kam Racing. I was about to fit it but it occurred to me that I'd have to remove the studs in order to change the discs.

Supplied in the kit is Loctite red. A quick google suggests that I'd need a blow torch to had when my discs needed swapping to get the studs out if I use it. That doesn't seem sensible. The studs take a 5mm hex key, I don't think you can attach them to a breaker bar.

    Have I missed something?

  2. They fix to the hub, not the disc?

Pretty sure your disc will slide over the studs.

What are you doing Steve :astonished:

They will screw into the hubs and the discs will slide over the top (front) if its the rears your you are on about, then yes you will have to remove them and fit to the new discs, but that's not going to be that often, mine came out without heat they will go

  4. Haha I was hoping you'd miss this thead!

Yeah, it was the rears I was going to do first. I didn't get to try them on the fronts yet because I wussed out of doing them on the rears when I saw how they worked.

Can I bring them down to plymouth when I can't get them out with my allen key?
